Exactly. This particular situation is not a matter of rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona, it's about Spain in general, and I don't see why he should refuse to support that.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with religion. He's supporting madrid because he was told to, and I'm sure rosell also "advised" him to do it... It's just politics.

What's wrong with that? Like others have said it's good for the whole of the country. I have a friend who's a huge cule, goes to every home game & some away, hates RM to the core, yet has always said she likes Madrid as a city when you take the football club out of the equation.

There might be some hardcore Catalan nationalists who might have a problem with it but even then, it would be for political reasons & not footballing.
