I dont give a shit about 'balloon door', but if Messi wins, I want nice close up of Cristiano's face...I want for mr. cameraman to really put in some effort and make that epic shot in HD, 4k, whatever, so I can study face deformation during jealousy.

It was disgusting that ronaldo won ahead of ribery because they reopen the deadline, it was so unfair I dont even have a word for that.


But as soon as I saw alves pique and casillas in the nominees , I realised its all marketing

It won't happen. Cristiano will win the Ballon D'or 2014, unfortunately.

It seems a lot of Barca fans need to take off those rose tinted spectacles. Ronaldo has clearly been the best player in the world over the past season.

But no, if he wins, you guys keep telling yourselves it's because of some voting bias, or whatever it is you guys are clinging to.

Based on what? Stats? Or maybe his perfect World Cup?

Stats wise Messi and Ronaldo were on pair, but Messi had a much, much better WC and broke 2 milestone records.

The past season(13-14, ended past may), yes. Why did he win for the 12-13 season, though? He wasn't the best then. Won over the blatter statements, and the unheard of reopen of votes, after he scored a hattrick against sweden. while Messi won liga and golden shoe, and ribery got the treble. So no cr fan can talk much either, after the blatant help and corruption involved in getting cr the 2013 ballon dor.

It was shameful, a disgrace, but no one talks about it. And because of that, the award is tainted. The "he didn't win titles" argument became moot to me, as cr won nothing, and still got the bdor over politics movement from florentino and blatter.

I'm not a Ronaldo fan. He doesn't play for my team anymore and for me personally, his pining for Madrid whilst at United counters the good stuff he did for us. He's just another player to me.

So I can say with a total lack of bias, that he had a much better 2013/14 than Messi...by quite a distance actually. It's only really some Barca fans here who seem to be unable to look at things objectively. Even fans on a Liverpool forum I visited seem to comfortably favor Ronaldo for it this year, and many of them still hold a lingering distaste for him because of his United past.

The past seasons you mention are irrelevant really. I'm not debating who deserved the award then, but just for who deserves it this time around.

I agree with most of what you say but there was a bit of a love in between Ronaldo and the Liverpool fans a few weeks ago and he was quoted as saying they always respected him etc.

They probably like him because he left Man Utd at his peak.

I should also add, that over the span of their career's I think Messi has been the better player for what it's worth, but again, that isn't the debate.
