¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
Messi is a better playmaker, sure. However, the thing that means the most in football are goals.

Yet when you talk about the GOAT of football, people never mention a player like Gerd Müller. It's usually Pele, Maradona, Cruyff or Beckenbauer, and by the time Messi retires, he'll be in that category, if he isn't already.

And Messi isn't just a better playmaker. He's much better at Ronaldo than dribbling and take-ons and passing.

Ronaldo has one job with Madrid: score (with penalties).
I agree.

Even if you take away CR this season penalties he would still have just as many if not more goals than Messi.

Really? I was born in 1990, but I heard a lot about Gerd Müller.

Again, my post stated his goal scoring prowess this season. He's on another level.

But Ronaldo's job is to score (just like Diego Costa's job at Chelsea).

But if you just look at stats, you saw Ronaldo's hat trick yesterday and Messi's today and you think they played the same. But Messi played a much more complete game. He had 4 superb passes, completed 88% of his passes, and had 100+ touches.

So although both may score the same, Messi's contributions to the team/game easily exceed what Ronaldo brought to Madrdid.

One is a great scorer, while the other is a great overall player.

Like I said, I have no problem with saying that Messi on form > Ronaldo on form.

I think Ronaldo's current form definitely makes it more interesting in terms of the debate of who's the current best player in the world. And it is amazing how he continues to put up the numbers.

But I think once both retire, it won't be a fair comparison to make statistically or overall skill level.

I think that their rivalty will be long remembered after they both retire. I honeslty think that Messi wouldnt score just as many goals if Ronaldo wasnt breathing on his neck, and Ronaldo wouldnt score just as many goals if he didnt want to surpass Messi.

Too good to comprehend. At the start of the match it looked like he was struggling but then he did a couple passes and dribbles that were out of this world and just went from strength to strength.

He was very good. He should be rested more often. It is nice that Lucho seems to rotate players to keep the team fresh, but he should give Messi some rest too. Maybe start subbing him after 60th min (if the match is decided, otherwise he'll be burned out when spring comes again.

From 1 month goal drought to 3 hattricks in 4 games. Lucho tactics are finally working. Now if each individual steps up we could challenge for liga and CL. I feared when we bought suarez we will place messi far from goal post making him do only passes from the middle. Suarez and Neymar both working to create space for la pulga helping him score many goals. I think that is the way it should be messi is better finisher than anyone in the world football, why do you want to keep that kind of player in midfield?
