He had a lot of bad luck as well in those first few months. Regularly hitting the post, no Suarez, not getting much service and no Penaldo's awarded when Christiano was getting one every game. Added to the fact he was scoring a ton of assists.

Messi's played very well all season but Suarez's return from the ban was key in terms of goals. Had Suarez not been banned he'd have probably won the Ballon D'or because it was around November when it was decided.

Suarez was better than Messi, maybe too was Iniesta but even on an off day Messi cant get a hat trick and an assist and thats impressive enough!
