09/10 Messi has 1.18 (G+A)/90 min. 13/14 Messi has 1.32 (G+A)/90 min

I know which one I prefer. Fuck stats! :)

Fully agree, however I personally love tracking Messi's stats, I must have some 'American' in me. It's just incredible seeing what Messi and Ronaldo are doing, breaking 100 year old records and what not, records that looked like they would never be broken... unfortunately it looks like Pele's 757 goal record will remain his forever!

Luis Enrique: "No matter where Messi plays, he will be great. If Leo would play as full back, he'd be unstoppable too... He's the best."

If you know what he means :pep:

The 11 difference was all competitions. He was somewhere around 13 difference in league i think.

Lurking through squawka stats and found out that messi is creating more chances in CL (3.43/game) than la liga (2.54/game) but his assists are like this in CL it is 0.29/game and in la liga it is 0.54/game. It is obvious that our players are not finishing those chances in CL. Maybe because opponent gk's and defenders are little better but still there is too much gap. If we are to have to deeper run in CL we need to more efficient in finishing those chances. Otherwise we would be banging our heads to a wall thinking what would have happened if we finished one of those chances.

If he stays with Barcelona until he is 36-37, then I believe he will break that record.

For club + country

Currently 440 goals

27 - 2014-15: 64 (460)
28 - 2015-16: 65 (525)
29 - 2016-17: 60 (585)
30 - 2017-18: 55 (640)
31 - 2018-19: 50 (690)
32 - 2019-20: 40 (730)
33 - 2020-21: 30 (760)
34 - 2021-22: 20 (780)
35 - 2022-23: 15 (785)
36 - 2023-24: 10 (795)
37 - 2024-25: 10 (805)

I believe this is entirely possible. Seeing as Ronaldo is performing, at this level at the age of 30, why shouldn't our GOD? :)

Reaching 700 is definitely realistic for Messi, what is 58 more than? just needs to keep on playing and he will get there eventually, doesnt even ahve to be Romario/Rivaldo type or he would reach 800

All I'm thinking is that he goes to a deeper role when he hits his 30's so his goals dry up where as Ronaldo in his 30's is becoming a number 9. I still think its possible if he players in Argentina or the MLS or wherever until he is 40, basically if he does what Romario did.

He really needs to hit big numbers during the rest of his prime years, last years 41 goals was a let down and a good 20 short of what he should have hit. This season he really needs 60 or so goals if he is to ever reach 757, not that he gives a shit about these records :p

I don't think so. I think he'll play the same way he does now, until he is 32 at least. It would be a waste of his talent to move further back, yeah sure, he might bump his assists, but Barca needs him in front of the goal. A 32 year old Messi would still be the best attacker in the world.
