I agree and look at this: "Barcelona didn't score in 8 games this season, their highest number since the 2007/2008 season" [barcastuff]

We depended on Messi when he was on a godlike mode and now that mode is over, but we are still depended on him. We need a striker next to Messi who can score 30+ goals a season, someone who can dribble and can play on the RW as well as CF. Alexis is amazing this season but only in La Liga and I am afraid that we ain't gonna achieve anything if we rely on him or Pedro to score tons of goals.

Lucho seems to want a striker than can play in front of Messi in addition to two CBs. Could be a good idea.

If anything, this season has proved how we are not a one man team.

It looked that way in the first half of the season, but Pedro and Alexis has scored totally like 5 goals in the last 3 months and Pedro scored 1 goal in CL, Alexis - 0 this season.

Our best football was played when Messi was out injured. Neymar, Alexis, Cesc and even Pedro didn't have the burden of 'serving' Messi and played well.

Messi is just not the same. We'll see how he goes for Argentine during the WC but the signs are there that he is diminishing.

I think selling him is a good idea. Why not cash in on 200 million and rebuild the team??

This is FC Barcelona not FC Messi.

That is interesting... but that doesn't change the fact that they don't play/don't score in CL or big games.

Thats not really true though. Alexis scored a cracker against Real Madrid, and Pedro has done on numerous occasions. Whenever Messi dont play, they score, regardless of opposition.

People have short memories. Messi made his injuries worse saving the team against the likes of PSG and Bilbao when he should have been resting. Also Alexis had some great games alongside Messi after his return. It's quite sad to see people blame Messi for the recent poor showings of Pedro and Alexis. Neymar has done brilliantly both with Messi and without him, how do you explain that?

I hate to criticize Messi but it must be done. Are we witnessing another Ronaldinho situation again? He got a new contract every year and turned into a god-like creature, above criticism and it was our downfall.

Neymar did better in the first half of the season. Messi and Neymar didnt really play that many games together. When Messi returned, things went downhill for Neymar too. But its not just this season. Look at David Villa. His goal scoring took an immediate nose dive after we forked up 40m for him. He had numerous individual awards until 2010. We signed him that summer, and after that; no more individual awards and he got less than 0.4 goals per game with us, eventually off-loaded for two bags of potato chips.

Yes trio Neymar-Messi-Alexis is quite dangerous, but not Pedro-Messi-Alexis.

Villa had a good first season with us, it's not Messi's fault he broke his leg. Also while Messi was out injured we lost to Bilbao and Ajax, we also barely won at home to Villarael. We were hardly playing god like football with him out. I think the scapeGOAT should be his official new name around here.

Ronaldihno was partying and gained weight, what is happening with Messi is that he was scoring 50+ goals and created huge expectations for fans and now he can't score 50+ goals but he can score 30+ and make huge impact but he needs someone to help him to score goals, Neymar will help, but we need a striker as well.

This!

Messi is the same player as he used to be but he certainly needs support from the team. He had a pretty bad season but scored a huge amount of goals again. He is the best player in the world and with the proper system he'll show it again.

I really don't remember that... The matches against Athletic and Ajax, without Messi, were some of the worst this season. And no one is serving Messi. With Tata, he has less touches and is less involved in the play. And what is happening is Alexis and Pedro are still failing. But let's blame Messi.

He scored 41 already, that with being out for months. If he had an injury free season, he'd reach 50 goals again.
