If they want me to leave, I'll leave.

"Messi: "Quiero mucho al club, si hay gente que duda y quiere que me vaya, no tengo problema"

I really love the club, but if people who doubt want me to leave, I got no problem.

He just signed a new contract and already talking about leaving??? What the hell is going on

There was an uproar against him after the game vs atletico. Many ungrateful idiots blaming him, wanting him sold... He looks to be aware and affected by it. It'd be the worst mistake to let him go. Nightmare stuff... Hope Lucho talks with him and put this behind him.

What's Leo's new buyout clause? My prediction is still Leo will leave Barca end of next season because the board wants to cash on him for the new Camp Nou project.

I hope he does well in WC and come back all fired-up.

Of course he did. You have to understand what he's trying to stay. The day he won't feel comfortable in Barcelona because of the board or/and the fans, he will leave.

@KingLeo :There's no new buy-out clause. This is still 250m euro. And I don't understand why he didn't extend his contract til 2019.

Good thing Messi stays above the dross and doesn't get sucked down by the unbelievable ignorance and negativity of so much "fans".

Realizing Messi hasn't been at his best and wanting him to do better is one thing. Hating on him, placing unfair amounts of blame on him and wanting to sell him is just absurd.

Even after all Messi has given to this club, even this year, people still have the nerve to doubt him.

He's had a rough few months, which directly coincides with the team's rough few months. Messi is still our best player by far and still has the drive to win. When the air is cleared and we have a fresh, new, positive environment and a reinforced squad... we will be just fine. Everyone has a rough patch and bad times... it's just the cycle of nature. He'll be back... I'm not even worried about it.

There were rumors he wanted to extend to 2019, but the club didn't. No way to know if true. This board can't go soon enough. I think it's clear a segment(faus) doesn't like him and probably do want to cash in on him.

Hmm, don't buy that rumor. The board will be long gone until 2018, so it isn't logic for them to think that far ahead.

None of them want to cash in on him.

This board like every other board are obsessed with the legacy they leave and if they sold Messi they would be the most hated board in the history of the club. It wouldnt even get that far and there would be a vote of confidence against them virtually immediately.

Where have you read Messi wanted to extend to 2019? I have not seen that anywhere.

Some more interesting comments from him today.

He vowed to train "with maximum energy in order to give his best like always". He added: "When I return to the training ground with my team-mates, with my friends, it's going to change my mentality and it's going to be another story."

He also revealed that along with the rest of the Barcelona team this season, they were suffering from a "lack of energy".

Same here i don't see any benefit for the club to keep the same clause.

Do you have a source please.

A few months ago, maybe. Right now, what I'm seeing everywhere, even in spanish/catalan boards, it's a lot of people wanting Messi gone. Because the failure this season was his fault, he is lazy, just walks, didn't deserve a raise and that kind of stuff. And I saw it in the spanish media, when the negotiations stalled, and the lenght of the contract was given as the cause.

I saw that the length of contract was mentioned but not that Messi wanted it to 2019 and the club to 2018. You have any links to that?

Barely anyone wants Messi gone, some people may boo or make comments but if it came to crunch will still believe he will be back.

Personally I thought his effort was a disgrace at times this season but would not want to see him gone and think he was not fully focused on Barcelona or enjoying himself but he cant repeat these last few months going forward.

I remember seeing something on Barcastuff saying one of the differences between the Messi camp and the board regarding the contract renewal was that Messi wanted to extend the contract through 2019.

I guess the board didn't want it, for some reason.

Then why do you think he said that if people want him gone, he will go? He could be talking about the board, the fans or both. But I don't think he'd leave just because of the board.
