Amazing goal, very happy, elevated for Leo.

Other than this, a lackluster performance from him in general. I think we can finally put "saving for the WC" theory to bed. Messi is not playing differently for Argentina than he is playing for us, ie. he is still not moving much, standing still like a statue and walking for the majority of he game, really frustrating and maddening to watch. I really don't know why. I would not say he is past it to draw your ire, but let's face it, Messi is not playing at the same level he was at several years ago.

Argentina will most likely play Switzerland or Ecuador next. They rely too much on Messi, and they don't have clear tactics and the cohesion to move forward. They won't go far if they keep playing like this. At best the Dutch will kick them out before the semi-finals.

Some people = Messi is finished since he doesnt run more against a full packed bus ahead of him.

Messi = Finished since he cant dribble through the entire opposition defence and score.

Oh nice. That goal was massive no doubt about it. I didn't think he had a good game at all but you know, goals and all.

The team looks incredibly predictable right now. Sabella got saved big time by Messi and Romero from the critics. If they hope to get past the QF playing like this, they have another thing coming. Higuain on the wings playing useless crosses and in the mid field trying to create/dribble, Aguero running around doing nothing in particular. It was bad before that Messi goal saved them. Not good.

Romero should get it. He saved their asses from embarrassment. Messi's golazo was immense but he was poor for most of the game as were the others. Romero motm for me.

His save from the header was great but having replayed it Romero is about 5 yeards off his line. He was never going to get to the ball so I don't know what he was doing so far off his line. The save near the end was nice too but nothing out of the ordinary. Fair point though.

Against better teams, Argentina will just play on the counter to their strenghts. Not every team is gonna park the bus 80% of the game.

Messi didnt have a great performance, but he scored the winning goal and can look forward to the next game.

Those who call him finished and shit and that we should sell hin should go to the doc and have a full fledged medical test as many here seem to suffer from memory loss if they cant remember how good Messi was vs Bosnia in the 2nd half.

I still don't get that. Higuain should be the target of crosses. Really, really weird.

Great goal but he doesn't look fit, or something else which I at least don't know. 7136 m today but also it's difficult to find space when you're not moving. If he is not fit enough then he can't dribble as good or do what he wants because your mind wants it but your legs can't follow.
I am intersted to see what will Lucho do.

Just to cut all possible crap: all here, or all who are not trolls are Messi fanboys and in a good way. We all support Barca and Messi is our talisman, but I see him as best ever, currently he doesn't play like that no matter this wonderfull goal

I feel sorry for Leo, with a team playing like that, you just cannot have a good game. 2 times they managed to get the ball to him in a good position. First where he could run from the middle of the field and placed the ball besides the post, the second usable ball was the goal. Defence was shit, midfield was shit. What is he supposed to do ? Get the ball directly from the defenders and start the attack by himself every time while also finishing it off ?

Again, he decided the game completely by himself. He's the only one from the argies who did his job properly. If Argentina want to win this shit, they'll have to get better a lot and fast, something I don't see happening in 2 games.

I just love when teams lose in the dying seconds of a game when they have spent most of it with all 11 players behind the ball. Not a very good game from Messi but I am glad he was able to score.

I think people don't realise that Argentina have a lot of players who enjoy playing counter-attacking football.
