this. Do you think Messi will be more effective then lets say, xavi right now? Wonder how leos game will age.
Nah I don't see him as turning into anything like Xavi he's not realy the type who controls the tempo and needs to touch the ball a lot he'll just be an insane number 10, when he looses his striker abilities so to speak, he'll be focused more on getting into the right positions and delivering deadly balls to frontmen and playmaking and such. kinda how i see it. He'll be insanely matured so he'll need only to rely on only few moments of brilliance rather then having a lot of the ball he's not the xavi type.

Watching him play like god in the world cup,I think I conclude he was indeed saving himself for the WC.

Yet he only covered 7.5km vs Iran. He covered over 10 vs the Swiss but that included an extra 30 minutes so in terms of distance covered nothing has changed.

Why do you want him to run so much? I'd rather he walk and be the GOAT than run so much and play like Pedro.

:worthy: I agree. I don't get the he should run more thing, where should he run with 3 players constantly hounding him as he moves, he looks for a lapse in concentration and decides to move in a burst of pace to get away from his markers. Its efficiency vs headless running. If running aimlessly made you the best, Pedro would be one of the best players ever

Running less will help him to be effective through the entire game. His stamina is not so impressive now, don't know what is the reason.

Awww such passion!

she is a great fan both for Argentina and Leo

7.5 in 90 minutes is nothing  why has he gotten so lazy

I strongly believe it is not his laziness that we are seeing. If Messi had turned lazy we would have seen it in other aspects of his game and also in his fitness level. however we see that He has kept very fit and has shown form when the team has called upon his brilliance.
The main issue with Messi's current way of playing stems from bad coaching and instability of his teams IMO.; Up until the ends of the Tito year he still would run more, but when Tata came on things changed. Sabella has obviously not addressed this seriously either.

It is also possible that omitting messi from pressing and tracking back has been part of the plan to give Messi more freedom of action and energy for when it is most needed (getting ball to messi not messi to ball) and it would have been a good plan for certain matches but you can not keep playing your player in a role with a limited definition and expect wonders every game so you need variety; However the last two years, it seems the coaches have lost the plot and forgotten to keep the balance in every part of their plans, resulting in Messi's repetitive role and gradual lessening of movements.
Messi have been playing like this for more than a year and non of the coaches have shown any problems with it, so he kept playing the way he is now. All we truely need is a coach with a new plan to take Messi into a more active role.

Can't ask messi to play like Di Maria or Vidal, La masia players are taught to play a certain way so you'll get the messi, iniesta type players who let their skills do te talking not their lungs.

Yeah that's pretty damn good. She did one of Lebron some time ago and it was equally impressive.
