Stop with the excuses, its clear as day that Messi of 2012 is gone, will probably never return. He is still an amazing player but he just can't touch that Messi. I just hope he continues at this level for a while and doesn't drop even more in the next seasons.

I am not too concerned. I think yesterday he had a bad day, his finishing and everything was rusty. But he clearly tried, it was different from some games in the last season where there was hardly any effort from him.

Messi's finishing has been rusty for quite some time though, rarely does he score on one-on-one's these days for example. I don't know if that will improve or it is just the way it is nowadays.

His finishing has declined but i think thats due to him not getting so many chances as before,we can argue he wont get to 2012 level but we are a different team too.
With neymar,suarez and in the future munir here his finishin could get a bit better but thats it,there is no need for scoring a million goals anymore his build up play ,movement and pressing are far more important now.He will still be the most valuable player for the team.
Michael Jordan won i think 5 mvps of the league scoring ridiculous amounts of points but Chicago couldnt win anything against Pistons,then he made a team around him to suit him and became the best player of all time,and this Barcelona are going in the right direction,Messidependencia will stay but there will be others to score and u can shut down messi in the box but you cant shut him down when he takes the ball from busquets and raki on the run.
Messi is evolving.
Deal with it times are changing and its good.

Messi just needs time to get his form back, iniesta not playing well/ being off also affects him a lot i think, since the playmaking is all on him at that point.

I'm probably his biggest fan, and i'm definitely not a pessimist. Even I'm beginning to think that he may not be the prolific goal scorer he used to be anymore. I know the team plays a role too but having watched him play every week for years now, I feel certain situations where he would absolutely bury a chance now go missing. I hope i'm wrong I really do. I hope he'll prove me wrong. Hurts writing this honestly.

His acceleration is reduced and he has achieved much.

F*** me this thread is depressing. He had 3 games where he looked great and then as usual everyone puts him down over a single bad game.

2012 Messi was a better finisher but every other aspect of his game is the same as the Messi who played against Elche and Bilbao.

Were you asleep for the hattrick at the Bernabeu 6 months ago? His last cl hattrick was against Ajax last year but he has scored at least two in 2014 counting RM and Getafe.
