On the expense of our sporting project. Barca is not broke or going down so it doesn't make sense either financially or from a sporting aspect. It might pay for the stadium and save up money, but then don't expect the sponsors to put forward the same numbers for us again because the overall package would be weaker without a Lionel Messi in it.

Thing is this the current leadership has made it a habit to focus on economics at the expense of sporting project. It is their MO.

I wonder is this Messi's way of trying to bring the elections closer? It might just be a coincidence that these comments have been made just when Laporta has come out and attacked the board but it definitely provides and Benedito with more ammunition if they attempted to get the elections called during the summer.

What Messi needs is some political allies to work in his favor and use him as their champion. If Laporta can use the dissatisfaction of players and Messi and go on the attack against the incumbent board, some good can come of it.

If no one picks up Messi, I could very easily see the current leadership spin stuff like this against Messi and use it for their own benefit. It is what politicians would do.

In before he gets a contract extension. Chill guys!!! There is no way the club is selling messi and even messi will not leave barca until he wins one more CL and that might take some time.

It's not about selling Messi in the first place. One can hardly imagine that the board would be so stupid to sell him but Messi seems unhappy, really unhappy and it's beyond contraproductive when your best player is unhappy. This could affect the whole team eventually.

I imagine Messi is trying to influence the elections. No need to panic. Also where is Luft? His reactions are always the best :p

This was my initial reaction when I saw his comments

You remember this summer he said something similar - "if they want me to leave, I'll leave" or something like that. This is really worrying :(

couldn't that be a factor as to why he made these comments in the first place? what i'm trying to say is that messi isn't that committed to barca anymore because he doesn't think that this team is able to win the cl anytime soon.
