Makes sense.

But where else would he have a better chances of success than staying with us, other than Real Madrid and Bayern, which I don't think are possible?

Mourinho would give his left nut to get Messi to Chelsea, and Abramobich would gladly pay. Offensive lightning in a bottle that is Messi in those structured, solid and balanced Mourinho teams would make Mou jizz all over himself several times over.

i don't think he's thought that far ahead yet. He wants to stay here remember but it is Defenitly realistic he could leave.

He could join Chelsea and there he'd have a great opportunity to win BPL and CL.

Or join Kun at City.

I wonder what makes Messi so unhappy?

The fact that we have deteriorated so much? Or something else? I don't want to sound like I am defending the current board, but Bartomeu has consistently said the right things about Messi is not for sale, he is the future leader of the club etc., and he got a hefty pay raise.

What does Messi want, in your opinion?

The lack of a sporting project surely bothers him. remember he said faus knows nothing about football, and that they were trying to run Barça as a business.

But also the heavy unjust criticism without protection. He knows how these things work... But I think the biggest problem is he might feel unwanted. He said again he wants to stay, but that is not only up to him. That gives enough clues.

I wonder why that is? Is it because of Luis Enrique's tactics of removing Messi from being the focal point of our attack or something much bigger?

I have a feeling it is the board not showing enough respect etc.

He's not unwanted at Barca at all. He's needed more than ever that's why they gave him a new contract. With the current state of the Barca team he might be thinking I wont win anything for a couple of years and Ronaldo over take him on the Balon Dor. Sad really how our quality has gone so fast, within the space of 1.5 years really. Imagine if Ronaldo was in our team.. no creativity in midfield, assists etc.. and shocking tactics.. He would have less goals then Messi this season if he played for us. Can't blame Messi for wanting quality around him that's what should be expected at Barca. Hopefully the board sorts it out quick when the transfer ban is lifted.

I hope he is just sounding off the alarm to urge the board to do something, I don't doubt that Messi wants to stay and he loves Barca much more than most of us do.

But if he really leaves, amid crushing devastation and a loooooooooooooong depression, I will be extremely mad at this board, but I'd be lying if I say that I am not mad at Messi at all. I wish him the best, but Barca will never be the same without him.

Honestly, I would love to see Messi under Mourinho, but I don't think it will happen. If he really decides to leave it will be for City, because of the other argies that play there.

Poor Leo, he really does sound unhappy. Sometimes I just wanna wrap him in a blanket and hide him from all the bad in the world

Or the numerous occasions where they failed to give him any kind of rear cover when he was attacked by the press, the target of campaigns etc. When the press was ripping him apart because of the alleged contract renewal demands the board didn't defend him but instead added oil to the fire with the Faus comments; similarly when the tax evasion case emerged the most supporting statements came from Laporta; he got almost no support for the BdO last year (bar that pathetic "I'd vote Messi, Messi, Messi" speech); got no support or defending whatsoever in the "turned his back on Lucho" campaign etc etc.

I do think Leo is less "innocent" politically than we think though, I can well imagine that he's trying to support Laporta with his statements. He's the most powerful player at the club (bar perhaps Neyboy's father, but he doesn't qualify as "player"), so it'd make sense for him to use that power in this or that direction.

Personally I don't think Leo will go anywhere. He's always said that he would like to remain at Barca and would only leave if he was forced out. Wouldn't be surprised if it is his message to the board showing that he is behind Laporta.

Edit: Like the post above says. He is less 'innocent' than people think IMO
