just one thing, though: Messi has often been bad against tight buses. Against Inter or Chelsea he wasn't much better either. So it's probably his kryptonite. And having the rest of the team playing horribly didn't help.

Yes he was disappointing but some comments here are disgracefull!

I'm wondering is he not being overplayed again because he has played 90 minutes of every possible game (except agains Rayo) the last 2 months and the last 3,4 games his finishing isn't looking sharp anymore while in the games against Osasuna, RM, City it was.

The worst thing is that it looks he agrees and accepts rather than busting a gut to make things happen in those situations.

Well atleast he tried against Chelsea, it wasnt this kind of performance.

Piss off. Other players have been playing all the time like Iniesta and Neymar. They actually tried to do something tonight, Messi just walked about.

Did not expect that he'd perform. He rarely does against these sort of organized defenses. Make that 0 goals in 17 games against Chelsea + Inter + last 6 games against Cholo's Atletico.

Obviously it's not as if the rest of the team played out of their minds and it was only Messi who sucked but he's supposedly the best player that has ever lived. So there are different standards for him. The way he's walking around the pitch even when the ball is 3 yards away from him and he doesn't care to chase it is the most infuriating thing.

Whatever. "GOAT" and all.

Perhaps Messi is too comfortable??

Everyone knows he's an untouchable and plays every game without any competition to his spot. The problem is, benching Messi would cause a lot of problems within the club and it could get ugly.

We need a change in tactics and formation. This false 9 thing was great during Pep's days but its a new day now. We can't be caught up in old tactics.

I say move Messi to the right wing, buy a striker, convince Xavi to step down, and buy a center back. One of Pedro or Alexis needs to go. Then there's the problem of a goal keeper as Valdes is likely gone.

Because we can't keep on like this. Not if we expect to win more La Liga titles, much less a CL.

Maybe we should drop him to CAM in these types of games and put a striker in front of him. It worked against Milan.

Messi plays the best in the middle. Moving him to the right isn't a good choice.

We should buy a striker , change formation, and play Messi behind the striker.

The problem with doing that is that Messi would need to work a lot harder in a No.10 role behind a striker than he does just now. Otherwise it would leave the midfield a lot weaker defensively.

Would he do that? Who knows.

He does for Argentina, so why not?

#LeaveMessiAlone

Everyone around him sucked, Atletico double marked him all the time, Tatas tactics didn't help, plus he had an off day.

I'll say it again. #Leave Messi Alone

Well...he will renew his contract once again and will be the best payed footballer in the world. For that amount of money I guess he could put more effort into his game. He did say he loves this club verry much so I guess if he means it , it wouldn't be a problem for him to run 2 km extra each game considering that by the looks of it , he doesn't seem to run more than 5 km per game these days , while 30-40% of those are walking around - jogging in certain games.
