He was huge part of the problem, and was totally out coached by Sampaoli
and Aguero,Higuain ,Tevez have been struggling for sometime in big tournaments for Argentina .while some of the most talented young players in the world in Dybala/Icardi/Vietto didn't even got a minute in a friendly game with him to see if they could offer something different to the team

Watching those pics about Leo after the game  Why can't god just gift him that once joy he hasn't felt so far? Why is it so hard to do it with his national team? Why can't I play instead of Higuain and score all those chances? WHY?

Honestly, they don't have any clear identity. Either hoof it up and hope for the best or rely on Messi/Pastore/ADM to create something out of the blue.

Members of Argentina star Lionel Messi’s family were attacked by Chile fans during the first half of the Copa America final between the two sides on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred just before half-time when supporters of La Roja began to insult the Barcelona forward's family.

The 28-year-old’s brother Rodrigo was hit by one fan after an angry exchange and the whole family were moved to a television cabin at half-time for their own safety.

Yes, he was. And he is. He´s clueless.

World Cup runners-up, Copa America runners-up. Sure, a very average team.

They were in this copa. But overall all teams were bad. Apart from the 6-1 vs paraguay, Argentina showed nothing. That was the anomaly.

Football is a game of inches and seconds.

Higuain putting away the chance in the 90th minute and we would have been applauding Leo for spearheading the counter. We could use similar examples from the world cup final.

As good as Leo is he can't control everything aspect of a game and it's even harder to do so in a closely contested final. Was any attacker tonight outstanding for either side? Same question can be asked for the world cup. A very difficult game to shine in.

Would have been immense to see him win a national trophy, however it just wasn't meant to be. 3 finals with his country and a gold medal isn't an horrific record.

so those players would magically play well under a different coach? sure the tactics were bad but the players themselves must take blame.

Arg had no midfield, to start. They were not a team, as chile is. Tata was completely outsmarted by Sampaoli too.

To be fair, he COULD do more than he did today. It was not a great performance from him, and we should expect more from him in such an important match. Yeah, the tactics and the play of the other Argentines might prevent him from having an absolutely dominant display, but there's something between that and his display today. Just because the rest of the team doesn't play well doesn't mean that Messi gets a completely free pass for not really performing well himself.

Hell, if he had played really well, they might've still lost, because the other attackers might have completely screwed up tons of chances he gave them or something. It wouldn't have surprised me. But that's not what really happened. He wasn't great. So yes, there IS something he could've done that MIGHT have overcome the ineptitude of players like Higuain. He could've run around more, created more magic, etc. It's not like he did everything that could be done under the circumstances.

PELE
MARADONNA
RONALDO
ZIDANE

MESSI
CRUYFF
PLATINI
D. STEFANO

This as in national team legends vs club legends.

What is so wrong with that? Comon let's just be truthful. He is a club legend and the top 4 are national team legends.

You are trolling. But Messi is so clearly better than Zidane that it is laughable. Zidane could have won 4 World Cups and 4 Euros, and he would still definitely be worse. Team success doesn't make an obviously inferior player better. If it did, we'd also be saying that Xavi/Iniesta are better than Messi. But no one thinks that. Because, despite them winning more, they are very clearly not actually as good of players as Messi.
