Lionel Messi: I'll be back when the doctors tell me I am ready to play...
Lionel Messi has spoken about his injury and is looking forward to coming back.
The star hurt his knee against Las Palmas at the end of September and will miss around seven weeks.
In an interview with Yahoo he explained that he has to wait until the doctors give him the all clear before he can return.
Asked when he'd next be kicking a ball, Messi said: "When the way I’m feeling and the doctors tell me that I can. I am improving every day without setting myself any targets. I have always said that I don’t set myself any dates because it isn’t up to me.
"As much as I would like to play tomorrow, the doctors wouldn’t let me. When they tell me that I have recovered completely will be the time that I will make my return onto the pitch."
Messi says that he can't wait to get back fit and is trying to reach 100 per cent.
Asked how he felt, he replied: "Upbeat, wanting to get on with my recovery. Being injured is the worst feeling in the world for a sportsman, but right from the start I accepted that I had an injury and that the only thing to do was to recover from it the best way possible.
"The most important thing for me is to be at 100% fitness."
