somepeople don't understand football.

you really think they were going to beat the likes of France, Portugal/Uruguay, Brazil then Spain consecutively.one after the other lol

might aswell have shut the thread down when they finished second and the draw was panned out.

if they were in the other half theres a reason to be dissapointed.

Their shitter than a blue square conference team

1 and 2 are just rumors and speculation so I can’t even be bothered by that BS. 3 I kinda agree with, but I think it is just kinda expected for him to carry that armband as their best player. Definitely shouldn’t be him, tho. 4 is also fair enough, but that is also Sampaoli’s fault for having no balls and letting him do whatever he wants.
Don’t know what Messi got to do with Barto buying players who don’t fit our team, tho. If anything, that is just what I have been saying for a long time.

4 proves Messi does whatever he wants, to his detriment. He didn't stick to any position he was played in and everyone adjusted to what he chose to do.

- When playing as a #10 against Iceland he dropped deeper into CM regions driving the ball in the first half and constantly appearing in the centre calling for the pass from his teammates nullifying anything they did from the wings, against a parked bus. Not smart.
- When playing as a forward against Croatia he sulked, because he likes having the ball at his feet, started dropping to the right, which only led him to giving the ball away.
- As a RW against Nigeria he was arguably at his best position and for the first time he appeared upfront making a run to a good pass over the top. Some really good one-twos with Higuain. What then? Quiet for the remainder of the game, because he strayed to #10 position, which was clogged up by Nigerians defending a favourable score and there was no winger to pass to on the right as a result of his decision, until Pavon came on and started making runs in behind the defence.

Messi is put in the position of the franchise leader. He's the GOAT, right? Of course he is always asked to approve a manager or a player. He approved of Sampaoli and for months on end it didn't work. What do you think AFA decision making process is? It's obviously the shallow "Does Messi like him?" type of thing, we're talking latinos. Should have known better.

Same with Barca. If he approves of Griezmann, Barto will go and get him as the highest priority. Messi does approve, but doesn't look for your next leaders that you desperately need. He doesn't know who would make the best next Puyol/Xavi/Mascherano. And he's the captain now so he's expected to contribute to these things.

Now Ronaldo will score against Uruguay with Suarez and Cavani missing 5 sitters and the meltdown will be complete.

you just know this will be the 1 game that Godin-Gimenez partnership fucks up

i got big money on Portugal so atleast it softens the blow a little

Sticking your head in the sand mate...

1) Leo influences squad picks and his clique is the reason Dybala doesn't play and Icardi wasn't selected
2) He is asked for advice on the coach choices by the FA as a poster boy. He liked Sampaoli because of his CV, but turns out he had no idea of the way he operates -> constant lineup rotations, high press, a lot of effort involved which clashed with the personalities already there. Their level of press precisely shows you how they like to play. @serghei highlighted this in the other thread too
3) He's taken the armband. He's no exemplar leader who runs the pressing game from the front. He's a quiet guy who likes to put his most influential offensive players in a huddle to go over some movement, but nothing beyond that. How is that supposed to work?
4) He was played as a forward and strayed to the right all the time. So who's making this decision? Sampaoli? Or himself? Makes no sense for the coach to tell him to play as a #9/false #9 without a forward. And if Messi is smart enough, he knows it. So why does he continue to go where he's comfortable?

And again, Barto does the same shit. All he does is go all guns blazing for household names whether they're compatible with what Messi is becoming or not. Watch this situation deteriorate over time.

I thought you are a better troll than somebody who believes in tabloid shit. Sadly much of the news about Argentina in this World Cup was media sensation. If Messi was pulling the strings his best friends Di Maria and Aguero would have played full 90 minutes in all 4 games in this World Cup.

He has already won a major title with Portugal tho.

Portugal aren't exactly the favorites to win the World Cup anyway.
Why would this Argentina be though? They won 7 out of 18 pts without Messi. Wouldn't even be here without him...

Point I made in replying to Jam is that, even if Messi won it without actually eclipsing Maradona in style, he would still be criticized. Would Messi not playing against Germany and Argentina somehow winning mean he is better player now?

Inb4: Cristiano has also scored 0 goals in WC KO-stage, although it might end tonight vs. Uruguay.

Wolfe you make a good fiction writer. Your ability to make something out of nothing or pretty little things is pretty impressive.

What does that say about you bruh if your rebuttal constitutes nothing, but ad hominem?

Not really. Messi's nepotism doesn't need to constitute starting all the time. He knows his mates well.

Because neither you or I know anything about what happens in the Argentina dressing room and Barca board room and you are the one who cited those speculations of yours as hard facts. When I know nothing I choose to shut up.
