cant believe messi didn't score in 180 mins vs. Juve...
I don't like it either. I'm hoping he sees it and goes back to rw next season. Hopefully Robert will sign a good rb. Or maybe a new system from the new coach.
Had plenty of it in the first leg, but then it was the rest of the team that failed to convert much bigger chances. Point is, we needed much more than just Messi to win this tie. We needed a functional team, something we haven't really had for the last two seasons. We needed Messi magic last night and just didn't get it.
ask yourself this then: over two legs did we really see messi at his lethal best, playing according to his own standards, and validating his reputation as the best player in the world/history?
let me just add that yes of course i think he is, but that i think he was poor against juve overall. he missed a couple of shots he really should not have, not as the player he is and that we love to see.
Not over two legs, but in the first leg. You said it's been a while he hasn't produced in a big match and he did 8 days ago. And it's not like there have been many knockout ties since Bayern. Arsenal Atletico Psg Juve.
Truth is he didn't score against the two best defensive teams when Barca as a whole only managed two goals, both at 11 vs 10.
It's been awhile because at any time 3 players keep an eye on Messi. If you noticed last night Massimiliano Allegri almost invaded the pitch on few occasions, shouting at his midfielders, Pjanic in particular, for leaving the Argentine the space, time, opportunity to make one of his trademark crosses into the area. I don't expect him to score against Real Madrid this weekend, either. Actually that's what I expect to see from Barcelona in the future - Messi more of a midfielder, in a playmaker role. We certainly need to get forwards to make something out of those magnificent passes the Argentine gives.
