Messi and Ronaldo are proof that a good team is imperative for winning titles, no two ways about it. The great Michael Jordan didn't win his first championship or even play in the NBA finals till the age of 28, when the Bulls finally gave him a team that could support a title run. Lebron James has only ever managed to win 1 ring with the Cavs and that too after they built a team that could actually rival the Warriors (minus KD). Messi has had a lack in silverware ever since RM's rise and Barca's decline, and the reverse is true for Ronaldo back in the Pep Era. All these players are all time greats in their sports, and showed exactly how great they are even in the periods of their careers where they were not winning titles.
No man rules alone, and the notion that Maradona led scrub teams to WC and Serie A titles is ridiculous, outdated, and refuted. Not to mention that he played in a man-to-man defensive era where collective pressure, the most effective defensive tactic in the history of football, was not implemented.
The team is not the metric for judging the individual. The likes of Ronaldo having an international title over Messi is literally a matter of chance/circumstance, as Eder did what Higuain could not in 3 separate finals. Frankly, Maradona never reached a level of performance that Messi has except for that WC in Mexico.
Di Stefano? Lol at the idea anyone here watched him, or that the era of football he played in was even a small fraction of the level it is now. Frankly doubt TS even watched Maradona, after even suggesting he could've judged Di Stefano accurately.
