Wrong, the Serie A defences of the 80s and 90s were greater than the defences playing today. Messi has been spoilt by staying at one club and having Xavi and Iniesta in their primes. Messi wouldn't be as great without them. They would make any player look great.
But not taking into consideration that Xavi and Iniesta both worked in pairs in Spain? And who else were there at Spain? Wow. Busquets, Villa, Pedro and Puyol. They were well familiar and well versed with the tiki taka they were p)aying. The chemistry were already there. With Ramos and Casillas. One of the best keeper in the wc 2010. Chemistry and tactics were a huge problem in tournaments like World Cup, bcos international players hardly trained much together. Spain clearly didnt have tat problem plus they had many Barcelona and Madrid players.
By your logic, Xavi and Iniesta had swarms of good players around them in their whole career. And all were very well familiar with the system that they are playing. Does that mean Xavi and Iniesta could only do well in one system? Throw them into a different system would they still have performed well? And what if Xavi was alone, vice versa?
And who else were on the same level with Messi in Argentina in terms of technical brilliance? Aguero? Higuain? Pastore? Only Mascherano and Messi were the ones that did very well during the World Cup, the rest were jack shit.
And how would u compare players in the 80s, when there were entirely different generation of players playing then. Without common variables, timeline to gauge them fairly. Just bcos it came frm YOU? Who are u to know how tough they were 30 fking years ago?
Nice troll but it aint working.
