People cant see past a few games a year. The amount of people saying Messi was invisible vs roma snd in the wc.
I dont think Messi will ever win a ballon d’or.
Ronaldo is way more likely to win cl with juve and therefore the ballon d’or (add nations league next year as well) compared to us under Valverde. We cant even beat betis.
Cl will be similair to less year and Argentina is hopeless. Liga performances dont count.

Eh thats not fair. Modric isn't more popular than Messi. They gave it to him as a career award and because he got far in the WC while playing good. I think everybody breathed a sigh of relief when it wasn't Messi or CR holding the thing.

He won't miss it, not if he thinks he has a realistic chance of wining. This penetrates as news for non football fans, the players know that. Its become a big occasion. When did it have meaning? People on this forum where hyping it to the moon when messi was in contention of winning it. Posters here were planning his schedule around the ballon dor and were willing to strategically sacrifice champ league or WC for it.

It's from Feb-May that Leo and Barca really needs to step up for him to have any chance to win the Ballon d'or.

Has one outstanding game in the CL -> chelsea home.
Group stage doesnt count for awards, he has to step up against in the knockout (Roma game for example)
Thats how things work. He can score 20 goals in the CL, if we are knocked out again in the same manner like against Roma, he will not be awarded with anything

He cant do it alone in CL, its a team sport and barca currently doesnt look best as a team, but messi alone can do better, if he would just run a bit more and show more effort when team is struggling, that would be enough for me, but its not the case
