Dembélé has had everything against him since his move 2 years ago. Frequent and long-term injuries, age, not being part of the "club de amigos" clan, little support from that same clan, a clueless "manager" being at the "helm" of the club, no tactical system in place whatsoever other than looking for Messi nonstop, no consistency even when fit to play due to not getting the required chances/playing time etc.

Dembélé is yet to play a full game 2 games in a row and people here talk about him having had a real chance to prove himself.

What is even more "frightening" is that he has only played 6 full matches in 2 seasons. 2 of those 6 matches were Copa del Rey matches (early stages moreover). Rest league games against minnows. Pathetic.

More interestingly Dembélé did not play any part in our Roma or Liverpool fiascos and I am 100% sure that we would have progressed against Roma if Dembélé had started (no way that Roma would have played such an high line deliberately if Dembélé was playing) and likewise against Liverpool at Anfield. That will obviously never be proven but if I could bet on such outcomes, I would.

No player has ever been successful at the club (nor any other club for that matter) without the required playing time consistently. If even the likes of Messi had, had the same career path as Dembélé for more than 2 seasons, he would not have amounted to much and most likely he would have been sold as well and deemed a "flop".

This is not the proper way to develop a genuine world class talent that needs the few last elements to reach the highest level and refine his game. Not to mention basics like consistency and confidence.

poor ousmane,it's not like him acting unprofessional with being lazy and missing trainings,it's because he's not the part of "amigo" squad...

Several reports said he changed his demeanor and became one of the harder working players in the squad. I guess Coutinho has been a caricature of professionalism and high effort then right? Given that he's getting so much playing time?

But hey let us ignore Luis Suarez who proved that he was unprofessional enough to not bother to lose weight where it mattered but only started to get fit for his international team.

Neymar? fucking lol dude is on a different level when it comes to unprofessionalism. Dude intentionally got injured or red carded so he can go to his sisters Birthday Party and even Robert said the dude came to training late but the club made sure no one found out about it.

what is more probable, him changing his unprofessional behaviour all of a sudden or club coming at him with possible repercussions for acting that way demanding a change in behaviour? and why mentioning coutinho here,i think everyone here agrees that he should have spent whole second part of season on bench...unless you wanted to make look like i'm defending coutinho or something?

What unprofessional behavior are you blabbering about? The local media has only reported him being late for 1 training session and not properly reporting his absence (due to a flu) the second time he missed the morning training session.

Since that episode we have had fellow PLAYERS praising his attitude. Just a "little" and "irrelevant" detail.

Yes, as if what I wrote about was only about him CLEARLY not being a part of the "club de amigos" clan. I did not mention 10's of other issues that are relevant when judging his time at the club so far, right?

Spot on. We have TONS of rotten tomatoes in the current squad with ZERO perspective due to old age and being way past their best but let us instead blame all the club's ills on Dembélé - one of our few genuine young world class talents that we should build a team around and who the board paid a fortune for.

Let us resign freaking Neymar instead while at the same time buy Griezmann yet NOT getting rid of a 33 year old way past it dinosaur in Suárez. Nor the biggest flop in history (Coutinho) nor Rakitic nor all the other deadwood.

I suggest selling Arthur as well since he was "another" flop as well apparently. We might as well sell FDJ this month to save us the suffering of giving time and space for a young world class talent.

That's why I had a laugh at these fools in the club de amigos who frowned on Dembele apparently being late to training, but would welcome the Brazilian rat back into the fold because he was their "Friend"

Neymar did far worse shit than Dembele did but the difference is Neymar is a friend of the rest of the gang while Dembele isn't.

What unprofessional behavior are you blabbering about?

1. Not knowing what food a sportsman should eat
2. A club gave him a chef who cooked for him in his house, Dembeboy fired him
3. Late on trainings
4. Not knowing how to stretch properly before matches in his first season here
5. Not learning a language
6. Hanging out with his friends late at night, playing Playstation and not sleeping enough

Him not stretching properly, eating unhealthy and not sleeping enough could also lead to injuries.

Now add IQ, lazyness, poor motivation, low confidence, not having too many friends in a team, too shy personality, being a bad fit for our type of a possession football.

This guy would need a team of 30 doctors, psychologists, coaches and good, caring friends to reach a level of a player which guys here are expecting.

1) We have Messi's own words of him admitting that he was eating junk food, drinking coca cola and eating asado every single weak and frequently when 5 years older (2014) than the current Dembélé. The reports about his eating habits (normal for a player his age who was living at his own place for the first time in his life - he apparently lived with his parents at Dortmund) originated in his first few months at the club when he was 20 years old.

2) Unproven rumor and sounds baseless.

3) Already covered in post 16846. Occurred once apparently. The other time he did not report his illness in time for the morning session.

4) You serious? That is something that footballers (amateurs) aged 4-5 years learn. BTW it is the responsibility of the club's staff (Valverde's) to ensure that a player is doing what he should be doing/is told in training sessions and during warmups before games. That is EXACTLY why they are present during that time.

5) I have no clue how good his Spanish is today but he is far from the first nor only foreigner to have difficulties with learning Spanish.

6) Dembélé has not been known for any "escapadas nocturnas" and him playing Playstation instead of sleeping is most likely taken out of the blue. I would like to know the source behind that "rumor/claim".

BBZ, your crusade against Dembélé is hard to take seriously when your self-proclaimed perfect "Iniesta replacement" (Coutinho) has been 10 times the laughing stock than Dembélé has been while being 5 years older, having no language problems, being part of the "club de amigos" clan, being a settled man with wife and children, being much more experienced and proven, being the club's most expensive transfer in history, being on higher wages etc.

Little word about Suárez, Rakitic, Busquets and others as well. Hard to take seriously.

Yes. Let us hope that the local sources are right this time around. It is a welcome news that they have been repeating the same things for a while now. Gives me hope of him actually staying. However that alone won't solve every problem if Valverde remains the manager and does not change his habits, if we will continue to have no tactical setup, if Dembélé will have zero consistency (even if ready), if the club de amigos clan continues to make life difficult for him etc.

The only local source that said Dembele was open to a move to Germany was Gerard Romero, and that dude is a total fraud now.

Alfredo Martinez seemed to just being working of the rumors from Kicker etc not really his own sources.

For "smart" replies: but he brought some points... Lol. If he didn't play, SOME other player would have ACTUALLY played on his position and that guy would have also scored a goal here and there.
It is not as if: Dembele scored xx goals, and the other guy who would have played instead of him=would had 0 assists, 0 passes, 0 shots, 0 goals.

WTF are you talking about here? Do you realize how dumb this sounds? There is no fucking way to know this for sure. Quit it with your lame hypothetical arguments.

you missed the part about him being at the training facility everyday during the last part of the season and the club applauding his commitment while others only came where scheduled. but let's hold him accountable for a rare occurrence that's probably happened to every athlete (they just weren't publicized like dembele's).

i'm just praying that these rumors are true so that this guy can remove himself from some of you weird, toxic barca fans who'll come up for every excuse for every single other player here (coutinho, rakitic, busquets, suarez) while criticizing this guy for everything from his "IQ" to his "misplaced passes" (wow, he must be the only player in the world who does that). barca really deserves a washed up MSN for one last time with valverde at the helm

With respect, hypocrisy is an awful trait. The same 'club de amigos' mentality that people moan about is evident here on this forum, people with different opinions ostrasised, new members bullied in to fitting in with the estabilished pack, Barcaforums sacred cows asking the powers that be to issue discipline on those who hurt their fragile egos. No different.

And this is something so trivial, a football internet forum. Let's not think these same people who moan about Barca's sacred cows would not do the same or much worse if they were fortunate enough to play for Barca. Especially when they display the same characteristics on a trivial football forum. Enough with this hypocrisy.
