Sorry, but you were the one who talked about how it would take a very long time until we would see 200m transfers and used Ronaldo's transfer fee of 94m in 2008 as an example of very little price inflation for the best of the best. I was wrong with one year when it came to 200m transfers. Leipzig have been rejecting super bids from Liverpool for Naby Keita this summer. Way before Neymar even was sold. What we are seeing is the overall increase of money in the game. Football revenue is skyrocketing. Thats why we must be prepared to pay 100m for the best players in Bundesliga who are only 20 years old. The fact that we can keep him for 10 years is part of the price.
You still havent answered who you want us to chase instead.
I answered it already and I seriously hope you start reading posts carefully,
Would I want us to walk away from the deal? No
May be we should do what you always wanted and just focus on cheaper talent from smaller leagues. May be it isn't the time to but now or invest in this type of players, just like RM pulled of Mpabbe deal when the money was crazy.
I want to get him, but I totally understand people complaining about what happening here.
Edit: And more importantly, I can't see Lukaku as a reason to justify the price. Lukaku is a poacher who was second top scorer in PL. those guy game translate well when put in same situation. Same for Higuin.
I would get the logic of "we have the money and desperate" than saying if Lukaku worth x then Dembele is worth y
