Sorry, but you were the one who talked about how it would take a very long time until we would see 200m transfers and used Ronaldo's transfer fee of 94m in 2008 as an example of very little price inflation for the best of the best. I was wrong with one year when it came to 200m transfers. Leipzig have been rejecting super bids from Liverpool for Naby Keita this summer. Way before Neymar even was sold. What we are seeing is the overall increase of money in the game. Football revenue is skyrocketing. Thats why we must be prepared to pay 100m for the best players in Bundesliga who are only 20 years old. The fact that we can keep him for 10 years is part of the price.

You still havent answered who you want us to chase instead.

I answered it already and I seriously hope you start reading posts carefully,

Would I want us to walk away from the deal? No

May be we should do what you always wanted and just focus on cheaper talent from smaller leagues. May be it isn't the time to but now or invest in this type of players, just like RM pulled of Mpabbe deal when the money was crazy.

I want to get him, but I totally understand people complaining about what happening here.

Edit: And more importantly, I can't see Lukaku as a reason to justify the price. Lukaku is a poacher who was second top scorer in PL. those guy game translate well when put in same situation. Same for Higuin.
I would get the logic of "we have the money and desperate" than saying if Lukaku worth x then Dembele is worth y

Funny you -as usual- personalize the argument and then use Keita for example when you are the one kept saying we should go for him because he would cost less while I was the one saying RB won't sell

Yes, Keita should obviously have been one of our targets and yes, you said they would not sell at any price. But you obviously couldnt know that because Liverpool didnt know it. Thats why they kept on bidding super bids for him. There is so much money in the game now. And Liverpool being willing to make Keita one of the absolute most expensive players in the world shows this clearly.

You keep saying Dembele will be exposed. But you say that you want him, but only for 80m? Have I understood you correctly? So who do you want instead when Dortmund will laugh at that cheap bid? I am just curious. You dont offer alternatives. I have never said we should go for cheaper talents from smaller leagues. I have said we should go for the best players younger than 25 in the world, who are still not playing at a top 10 super rich club that dont want or need to sell. Thats what Dembele, Mbappe, Umtiti and similar transfers are about. Chasing Dembele makes perfect sense. People have this idea that signing a talent means signing some 17 year old from Serbia and wait 7 years for that player to develop. Thats what the B team is for. For the first team, we should focus on adding great quality who can be starters for us and who still have further upside potential.

I deleted the Keita part few minutes after posting, thought I am a bit aggressive there
Read the last part too after I edited, I explained what I said more, my whole comments was about the comparison with Lukaku, it isn't really valid IMO
What I am saying he will come overpriced, do you like the club to pay more than actual value is? No, no one like it.
I said it to Donak the other day, I want him but totally understand if the other would hate the price or even would pass on if it exceeded a certain limit. I am not sure right now what price we should say no to him but probably nothing more than 120M
in other words there is no right or wrong considering the situation we are.

What do I want?
1- I wanted Mpabbe first, we lost few things with Neymar, goal scoring and ability to break defense. Mpabbe IMO is a better goal scorer than Neymar and he makes us more flexible, he will make better use of Messi passes and we will be back to LW in Villa/Henry mold.
I think he is more immediae impact and he is also more marketable atm after his CL performance, but PSG went full retard for him too.

2-After him I want Dembele, I think he is a bit similar in Neymar as brings the ability to break defense with assists and dribbling, but he is a poor man Neymar atm and downgrade in every aspect we will be the same but downgraded. His potential is insane and may be the highest among U-23 players but he is a rough diamond who need polishing, he will have a tough transition here and we won't see his best before 2-3 years (it took Neymar a year to settle here and he came more polished as a player)
Also fear that the price tage will put extra pressure on him

3-Afterwards? I have no idea, Deulofeu/Denis/Paco depending on games is most likely, it isn't entirely bad as all improving young players who are starting to settle in the club (I rate Paco higher than you)

We have to accept the market of 2017. What is the actual value? The type of arguments you use to justify the price of donkeys like Lukaku can be used to justify Dembele as well, we need a LW, we are desperate, we have a lot of money which everyone knows etc. These type of arguments are not arguments related to the quality of the players.

You say you are willing to go to 120m for Dembele but not more. Then we are pretty much in agreement. Perhaps we can push it to 130m or something but we cant try to sign him no matter what the price.

if Moneymar and Dembele switch teams, Dembele's stats would go through the roof and Moneymar's stats would go to the basement.

Nice stats, splash the money now. This guy has a huge potential. Enough whit those 50mil mediocre players now, we need players of this caliber!

I watched multiple Dortmund games and I can see some of you underrate Dembélé. He's not struggling vs teams who park the bus at all. He has a great pass quality. He could have had 30 assists if Aubameyang didn't miss tons of easy chances...

And nobody can stay in front of him. He can easily create his own shot too because he's extremely fast with both feet and the defender can't recover before he shoots. He's maybe the best young player in the world right now, not really a "Diamond in the rough". And not a downgrade to Neymar in every aspect.

Didn't you watch him dismantle England defence in a friendly recently, or Bayern in the cup final ? The defenders spent a lot of time laid down on the ground trying to chase him and we're talking about top teams here.

You can question a guy like Lukaku going for 90 million when he's very one dimensional and kinda clumsy in front if the goal, but in this market, Dembélé is definitely worth 100 million euros or more. Even 120 looks ok.
