I would not be surprised if the board did not recommend that to Dembele and his agent.

It is certainly a warning to other top prospects that it may be better to move straight to a big team and be loaned out.

Now you have Dortmund asking 10x what they paid and Davinson Sanchez at Spuds instead of Barcelona.

Perhaps clubs like Dortmund, Ajax wouldnt take a loan to invest time in developing another teams player but lesser tier who dont have the finabcial might to pay 15m like Frankfurt or Nice might.

Hopefully Verratti, Dembele and Coutinho serves ENOUGH warning to future talents about not having realistic clauses unless it's their dream club.

This childish strike has made things much more difficult and added unnecessary toxicity.

Not necessarily...
As the player's market more and more reminds us as being man-hunt, certain type of slavery or human trafficking, it is frankly nice to see a player to boycott the wishes of the rich (or want-to-be rich) owners.
Players should be allowed to play wherever they wish to and I do sympathize with any player who tries to show that.

Dembele made the same mistake when RB Salzburg wanted him 2 years ago. so gentleman agrement looks dreamy.l'm sure he would make the same mistake when PSG asks for him after 2-3 years.

Odd statement. Contracts are binding, pacta sunt servanda. Players should think twice before signing them. Have a player with 4 years left on his contract force his way out by refusing to do what he's paid to do ridicules the club and the legal contract they have. If that becomes the norm, clubs lose all power to players & their agents.

More a reason to hire a sporting director who has the ability to find talents and future world-class players. A sporting department who has a far-reaching scouting network around the world. A President that prioritize the investment in the La Masia and its related infuranstucture, give youth a chance and not wasting talent.

Yes.
In the future, it seems that our philosophy should be: buy 5 gems each season from all over the world and wait.

That's 2 completely different business plans. In barca immediate results are a necessity so we will always buy confirmed players.

Unlike BBZ I see what's happening now in the market as an anomaly that will not last forever. Soon things will return to normal.

If the market is growing (internet, pay per view channels, sponsors, merchandise all over the world), then the growth won't stop.
Barca's shirt sponsors deals are higher and higher each new year in the last 20 years?
And some English teams and Real have even more lucrative deals?

I don't think that sponsors will suddenly offer lower deals to Barca and EPL teams in the next season.
The deals will be higher and higher.
Also, I guess that TV rights (EPL) are higher and higher each new season, right?
Player's wages are higher than 20 years ago, right?
Sponsor's deals for players are also higher than 20 years ago, right?

Everything indicates that all prices will grow for at least a short-term future like 5 years.
There is nothing currently that suggests that any of big teams is having any financial problems or that anyone is bankrupting.

"The world" is much "bigger" lately with internet and millions of new customes who are watching per view view and similar channels.
I would dare to say that an average top team have 5-10x more potential customers/viewers than 20 years ago.

You can simply force a player to play at his best for a club he does not want to play for. Also use the world cup year as leverage for 1 last time.

What you say is so arrogrant and lacks logic. Dormund is the best team in the world about developing talents, if Dembele had asked for a clause, they would not sign him. it's Dembele's loss, not theirs.

if Neymar had a bigger clause, Would Barca leave him? so we can say that even Barca plays should opt for lower clauses from your logic.

Verratti's dream was Juve, not Barca btw.

You just keep on spewing BS on top of your bad grammar.

Dembele could have signed for Barca be loaned to ANY OTHER team for playing time. There are plenty of good teams out there in La Liga alone for developing talents.

If Neymar had a bigger clause, Barca would simply required the bigger clause be met since he was already too toxic for the players, the management and the fans.
Besides, if the clause is met and players wants to leave then Barca could not do much anways.

Of course every player would want a small release clause. If the team is the player dream team then the player might not have a problem with a huge or no release clause.

The thing is, Dembele does NOT want to play for your best team for developing talents.

Shouldn't a player also be expected to honor the contract that they've signed?

Best midfielder around
Need to wrap this one up and things will look much better. Game today showed how much we lack pace on the breakaway after Neymar left. Coutinho is about as slow as Alcacer, so stay away from him, please.
