Here is why:
This is business.

Denis was paid 10m and 5m addons.
15m fee.
3,5m yearly wages.
Meaning: 3,5m wages and 3,5m taxes for Barca.
So, over 3 years, Barca will spend:
15+7+7+7=36m in total for Denis.
We will sell him for 10-15.
So, 20-25m loss on Denis.

Gomes was paid 40m.
Wages 4m.
Taxes 4m.
Total over 2 years: 40+8+8=56m
Loss will be 40-56m.

Dembele:
145m fee
13m yearly wage.
13m taxes
2 years at Barca: 145+26+26=197 millions.
If we sell him for 100-105m next summer, that will be 92-97m loss in 2 seasons with not too much gain in return on a field.

About buying young superstars:
If we buy 20 years old Dembele and spend 13+13m yearly on wages and taxes, in 4 years that is 145 fee and 104m for wages and taxes=249m in total.

So, basically, it is better to buy a fully developed player like Coutinho, Neymar, Pogba on their prime for 200-220-250 millions than to buy a raw, unready kid like Dembele and wait for him, for let's say 3-4 years.

So, when you ask WHY is the board willing to give chances to Denis and not to Dembele.
Because we are losing only 7m yearly for Denis and 26m yearly for Dembele.

So, the maths looks like this for the board IF they don't have faith in Dembele:
Paid 145m
Wages and taxes in the 1st season: 26
Total=171

If we sell him now for 105:
We will get 105m and lose 61m.
If we keep him for one more season and he fails:
We will sell him for 105 and lose 87m in 2 seasons.

So:
1. If the board lost faith in him
2. If Ernesto told them that he is not too impressed with him
3. And since he is costing 26m per season, plus 40-45m of his value probably lost...
= then the board isn't 100% in love with him and unwilling to sell him, unlike this forum, who don't get "how could anyone even dared to think to sell him".

Remember, if Dembele won't make it, he will be the most expensive flop in our history.
Roughly 90m lost in only 2 seasons.

This is a contract season for Valverde and if he doesn't end up delivering the goods with the squad we have he's gone.

Really doubt Barca management will tolerate another year of UCL failure especially given how much Barca has spent.

I understand getting rid of waste of space and bad players but Dembele is actually talented.

Yes Dembele was injured but he performed when he played.. scored goal or assisted.. how senseless is EV? Like in his conscious mind is he that senseless?
we can't go for pogba this year anyway.. what do we need pogba for? what really? pogba is stagnant.. not a good fit IMO..
What role would Pogba play?

I'm telling you we have soo much advantage due to Messi still being here it's not even funny...
B/C if all hell breaks loose it's Messi to the rescue and that covers up all EV's mistakes.. I want this coach gone for real

I have a hard time believing anything Romero says honestly.

The stuff he talks about in terms of Dembele's discipline comes off as gossip talk that no other reports even talk about. Hell even Sport and MD don't talk about those issues at all. It just feels like Helen Condis talk like when she claimed the Barca locker room thought Semedo was a douglas level player in training.

All I know is Dembele needs to show the board and Valverde a message tomorrow on the pitch. Tell them what they would be missing if they sold him.

If EV wins La liga, which imo, we SURELY will, he will stay, unless if HE quits.
We won 1 CL in the last 7 years, and in the last 5 years we were knocked out 4 times in quarters with WAY younger Messi and a team.
So, not winning a CL with this team, which is weaker than teams with younger Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busi is not a sackable offense.

Who told you that a management told EV that he must develop a 150m investment?
Quite contrary, it seems that the board is with EV on this matter and they wouldn't mid on cutting the loses.

I can see that we are turning from Fc Barcelona to Fc Dembele.
Do you want the best for our team in whole, or for 1 player, Dembele?

If EV wins La liga, he did a good job.
Even if Dembele plays zero minutes.
And EV will stay.

Titles count, not a development of a single player, no matter what is a player's name.

For those who will reply: but, but, but, if we don't develop Dembele, our future sucks...
Calm down.
We have Malcom.
We will get 100M for Dembele and buy the next flavor of the season in the summer of 2019'.
A club won't die because of one talent replaced with some new talent.
If we'll sell Dembele, you'll get a new Dembele soon, as always.
