malcom doesn't have the skill level to be on par with prime robbery. Dembele has all the tools, and workrate is something that can be fixed with the right manager. Talent can't IMO.

Not saying Malcom will ever be as good as Robbery, just saying in my opinion he is closer to them than Dembele in terms of the type of player they are. Demebele’s dribbling will need to be massively improved if he wants to be compared to Robbery. His successful dribbles are too few and far between.

When comparing him to Robbery, you might want to remember where they both were at Dembele's age. At 21, Robben was fairly good at Chelsea between two injuries, but he wasn't a monster yet. At 21, Ribéry was playing for Metz, and then for Galatasaray. He joined Bayern at 24, where he was an instant hit.

Once again, the problem with Dembele is that:
- people can't judge him without remembering his price tag. Of course he was too expensive, but that's what happens when you're trying to buy from a team who doesn't really need to sell, and who knows you just received major cash.
- Barca fans have been spoiled with Messi, and many of them think every wonderkid have to score 20 goals each season at age 16. Messi was an anomaly. "Regular" players (even the ones who end up being amazing ones like CR) tend to shine later than that. What Dembele is already doing at his age is baffling (Mbappe's even worse obviously, but imho he's an anomaly too, though not as big as Messi).

Yup. Can't remember anyone in this decade of football that has impressed me so much at such as young age.

The kid is probably 5-6 years away from his prime too. It's staggering what he could go on to become.

you mean in terms of level of play not similarity?

I did not imply that Dembele has a style of play reminiscent to those of Robben and Ribery. Meant that Dembele has the potential become a similar player in terms of stature and output in their prime (goals and assists). What I wanted to say is that Robben and Ribery are, think few will argue, the best wingers of their generation and far better than some of the newer wingers like Alexis and Di Maria.

His understanding with Coutinho and Alba is improving and he's still adapting. His finishing is getting better too. It's not easy to adapt to a new league and Barca in particular. Just ask Henry or Alexis.

And he's still contributing with goals and assists and creating multiple chances while not even being 50% of what he was in Germany

Yes, but players are different, there are those who peak early and there are those who peak much later. We can't really compare players simply using accomplishments at a certain age as the yardstick.

Of course you can't. For example, Ribéry became a star several years later than Robben, and there are examples of players exploding pretty late (Drogba is a perfect example). I was just mentioning that because of the direct comparison to Robbery.

Robben didn't truly reach his potential until he went to Bayern. He was inconsistent and injury prone at Chelsea and Real Madrid and a lot of people thought he would never make the step up to become a World Class player.
