Huesca (farmers) lose to league winners 8:2 ---> Mickey Mouse team.

Monaco lose to league winners 7:1 ----> serious competition.

Bang on.

This isn't about Monaco or Ligue 1. It's about clarifying krakdol's statement.

If you're going to be a troll you should become better at it.

Krakdol's post is a reply to serghei who's claiming Ligue 1 is shite. But yeah, nothing to do with Ligue 1.

Take your own advice. ;) Have zero interest in trolling myself, unlike some.

@jair, now I see I jumped the gun a bit. Misreading your post since I skimmed through the page. Apologies

Should've quoted krakdol.

krakdol called Huesca a Mickey Mouse team. Laplacian responded by arguing that La Liga isn't a Mickey Mouse competition, prompting my post. I don't know why you brought up Monaco or Ligue 1 other than to troll.

edit: I just saw your follow up post. We're good.

You're welcome
Why has no one brought up the obvious argument that Huesca is the team to have promoted to La Liga and this is their first time ever playing there?

Not a good argument unfortunately since no team promoted to ligue 1 ever gets trashed 7 or 8 goals (well, once in like 10 years maybe...). It happens a lot more frequently in Liga.

Doesn't change the fact La Liga is a far better league than Ligue 1 (La Liga is actually the best league), that's not close at all, but some of the worst Liga teams are trash.

The worst teams in Ligue 1 are mediocre but pretty close to the best ones outside of PSG (usually there's only a few points between 4th and 18th), simply because France has tons of young talents and every year, the best ones leave to play abroad, so it makes the best teams back closer to the worst teams level (on a side note, while it kills our league, it also makes out National Team pretty strong).

La Liga simply hasn't the same depth in youth talent, but your 5-7 best teams are far better than French ones outside PSG, simply because they don't sell their best players every year and your young players mostly play at home.

Because Nîmes Olympique has already defeated Marseille 3-1 and played PSG 2-2 up to the 76th minute after a 25 year absence from the French top flight. While Reims has 2 wins already and Dijon is at the top of the table behind only PSG. All of them have class talents that will attract significant investment from top clubs, and all of them were promoted this season or last. So it's humorous to see people that don't know any better try to pretend Spanish clubs like SD Huesca are better than their French counterparts simply by virtue of playing in La Liga.

BS. Just take the last 3 seasons...

15/16 : Troyes 0–9 Paris Saint-Germain ; Marseille 6–0 Troyes. (Troyes was a promoted team)
16/17 : Metz 0–7 Monaco (Metz was a promoted team)
17/18 : Troyes 0–5 Lyon (Troyes was a promoted team || Although not 7,8 goals, so can discard it.)

The point is, teams promoted to ligue 1 DO GET THRASHED.

Huesca was undefeated in the first two games and held Athletic Bilbao away to a draw. A lot can happen in one game. Pointless to nitpick in such situations.

If they're that great,

Why don't they ever win a European competition, even Europa League? (Clearly dominated by Spanish teams)

Why don't they win even domestic trophies, if there is such a small gap?

Keep living the dream, although that won't change the reality that Ligue 1 teams (bar PSG, because of their budget and players) are inferior to their La Liga counterparts, at least the top 10 (arguably top 15), if you compare both leagues.

And about Huesca, they're a promoted team, which depends on the quality of segunda division. So, it can't be used to determine the strength of La Liga, which is the top league in Spain.
