EV works to win.
Winning while Dembele is in the starting 11 is way harder.

With Dembele: more magic, more chaos in your team, weaker defense.
Without Dembele: less magic, more balance allround, better defense, still enough attacking power upfront.

Dembele's allround flaws are currently bigger than his occasional moments of a genius which he is bringing attacking wise.

A tad to the extreme but agreed with the essence. Valverde has all the options in the current squad. He just needs to know when to use them. Not just have guys like Dembele as gamechanging options but also gamestarting options. There will be games where Dembele starting is best and games where Sergi Roberto/Rafinha is best.

Etc.

In short, I say Coutinho played on the right to accommodate Iniesta. Clearly, when both of them were on the pitch. And what do you come up with? Situations he could've rested Iniesta and play with Coutinho on the left? Who's talking about that? Certainly not me. As I said, another topic. You talk about resting, I talk about playing.

What's that supposed to mean? If he had no intention of playing him on the left, as you claim, and it had nothing to do with Iniesta, why wouldn't he play him there now? It's clear why Coutinho played there.

You're reading too much into my post. (1) Where did I say what my best 11 were? (2) I supported playing Coutinho on the right in 4-4-2, as stated in my post. In order to accommodate Ineista. Nothing to do with Suarez. Nothing jumbled up.

Etc. Etc.

Lol I like how you literally just acted dumb and ignored half of my post. You have been contradicting yourself, trying to justify the decisions he made, clearly Coutinho could play on the left last, not on the right, even with Iniesta, but then you shoot yourself in the foot by saying Dembele playing in the RW cause problems for Messi and Suarez becos not "their natural positions". I like how apologists will also justify Lenglet, Arthur, Malcom on the bench had he not used them, and say they are not good enough. Squad not good enough etc etc... The players arent a problem.

Had Valverde not used Dembele as an impact sub this game, you would have say he was justified and rightfully benched and should be sold right away. Now Valverde used as an impact sub, apologists were somehow "Oh, GREAT changes and subs!! Great reaction!!" Mind bending mental gymnastics. At least I applauded Ev for this match, but he still needs to show the same at the start and till the end of the season.

But it's okay, I will just keep it short. Valverde has still much more to improve in his man management and game reading, and not so much on using results to dictate his decisions. Shouldn't be too closely guarded with Lucho's Xi, and still should utilise this squad more. Shouldn't be forced to make a change ONLY because of injuries or a missing spot. Should let loose abit more and not always defend a lead. Use more impact subs and react faster on the pitch.

Fun fact, season doesnt just end here. Glad the strong bonded cheerleaders appreciating me in the members thread. :)

Yes, the coach knows better is been your motto for the past year. If we win, EV works to win and takes all the credits but if we lose blame the players: Arthur is short and not good enough, Dembele is thin and cost us the game, Malcom? is he even registered as a player with us?

You have to understand players don’t win matches (unless it's Messi) and coaches don’t win matches, teams win matches. To be a successful sports team it requires effort and motivation from both, the coach and the players.

Bullshit.
So we wouldn't won that game 5:1 if Dembele starts and Rafinha is on the bench? Bullshit, again. Rafinha doesn't bring anything to this team. He lost ball couple of times in bad areas yesterdeay, but yeah, you won't mention that.

Rafinha doesn't bring anything to a team

1. midfielder
2. possession
3. being good in simple passes
4. midfield balance
5. workrate
6. defending
7. not being a turnover machine
8. being good in link up play
9. understanding Barca's movement in possession style tactics
10. player's IQ and decisions
11. motivation, professionalism

More or less, Rafinha brings more than Dembele in every single of those.

On the other hand:
1. occasional magic
2. dribbles
3. pace
Demebele is better in those.
But football is much more complicated than that.

Take up a dictionary.
Try to look for:
1. midfielder
2. possession
3. being good in simple passes
4. midfield balance
5. workrate
6. defending
7. not being a turnover machine
8. being good in link up play

you're describing rakitic more than rafinha with those 11 criteria. someone like that wouldn't be a sub/journeyman at the age of 25.

he isn't saying that rafinha is 10/10 world class in those departments but that simply he is better than dembele in said attributes

Rafinha misplaced a ton of passes yesterday so yeah he actually was a turnover machine and calling Rafinha reliable in defending is hilarious. He was the worst player by far yesterday. I don't know what balance did you see in him but he was the most destabilizing factor in our team. The moment Valverde took him out we started playing good again.

Another observation, Dembele showed more in 15 minutes than Coutinho in 75. So if you want to be fair you should also take that into a consideration.

Yes the game is more complicated than that.
It's a pity that you will hardly ever see those differences, specially when you made up your mind about disliking a particular player.

Comparing Rafinha to Dembele is simply ridiculous, but we all know how you try to promote your favorites, the best is still the one when you compared Neymar to Pedro - and in your crocked agenda clearly Pedro was the winner...

Rafinha was far and away our worst player yesterday. I was bitching from 15 minutes in for him to be subbed off. The simple reality is that Rafinha is nowhere near good enough to be starting for Barca, I would say that he is extremely lucky to be anywhere near our training grounds. We loaned him out to several weaker than us clubs, and nobody wanted to keep him.

His passing is poor, his awareness is poor, he tired easily yesterday, he cannot dribble, he extremely rarely scores and so on and so on. Dembele may be a lazy cunt, but he brings otherworldly pace, moments of magic, and very good (if inconsistent) dribbling ability. The two, simply cannot be compared. Rafinha is probably the weaker player in our entire squad.

Rafinha helped us outnumber Real's midfield in the 1st half, Dembele proved valuable with space in the 2nd. Individually, Dembele's clearly better. Dembele could've come on sooner, but that's about it for me. Also, Rafinha really did have a poor match.
