No, thats not right. Vidal started against Atletico and we conceded and Dembele won us that game as a substitute. Dembele has been a fixed starter since that game.

He just started to score lots of goals.
His linkup play and teamplay is still meh and is still somwhat lost, but better than a few Months ago.
For you, scoring goals equals IQ suddenly?
Alexis was scoring lots of goals, and he is the dumbest player on a planet.
Rafinha > Dembele was in terms of EV's idea to play with 5-6-7 midfielders and just keep as much possession as possible.
Rafinha is not actually better than Dembele in other systems.
Currently, I would also play Dembele with Suarez and Messi.
But that brings other problems in midfield since at least 2 midfielders need to be very good in defending to compensate for this attacking trio (and especially if even Cou is the 4th guy behind them).
So, 2 out Busi/Vidal/Raki needs to play whenever we have Dembele-Suarez-Messi.
And lately, even all 3 of them are the best pick (Vidal-Busi-Raki).
If you have Dembele and Messi, you need Raki and Vidal in midfield.
If you want Cou and Arthur in midfield, then you need Willian and Pedro as wingers.
4 things changed when our defense has improved:
1. Coutinho out, Dembele in
2. Arthur out, Vidal in
3. Roberto out, Semedo in

Did you see that graph? Dembele is by far the second best creator in La Liga. Not playing him is utterly stupid because he offers so much in attack, and we're having problems with creating enough chances this season.

His linkup play is very good with Semedo. And is getting better with others too. Actually both Messi and Suarez are responsible for it not being that good too, because they often ignore him, when they shouldn't. He's great crosser, so it also compensate some the lack of being able to play quick one-twos or whatever is usually meant by 'link up'. Anyhow, improvement is visible and comparing him to Rafinha in any serious way is laughable.
Its a bit silly to go on and on about that when you praised Coutinho as an instant impact guaranteed success and you've constantly mocked and ridiculed what a joke of a player Dembele is. The reality is that Dembele has contributed much more to our team than Coutinho has. And the "instant impact" guy cost us 160m euros! Dembele is the only guy together with Messi that can strike fear in the opposition. He has extreme qualities and can do the unexpected. Teams need that.
