He could have outright denied even the possibility of Dembele leaving like Mourinho did with Pogba and Pep did with Raheem Sterling recently.
Obviously that comment doesn't look bad, but the small things you know. Don't even give the press a chance to pounce on it, just deny it completely if you really trust him and want him to stay. Valverde's ambiguity is annoying at times and is the sort of stuff the press use to break down the harmony of the dressing room.
The 1st thing that happened after he arrived is the club losing its second best player. He doesn't have same power as a guy like Pep have in his club, probably he doesn't want to do a Pique and say something that he might regret
How is Valverde still Barca manager after what happened in Rome anyway?
Do you think he would have kept his job if he was a Real Madrid or Bayern manager?

When will the players get some blame? We lost a 4-1 lead to ROMA of all teams. Sure he got the tactics wrong but that doesn't excuse the complete shit and lethargical performance they displayed that day. We won the copa del rey easily and wouldve gone undefeated in the leage if again, our players wouldn't have shat the bed against f*king levante

I mean when it was 2-0 it was almost a sure thing Roma would score a third even if they needed to attack with 11 men, so it was clear the only way Barca could qualify is to score at least one goal. So while Rome were attacking with all they have and leaving space behind you would think the logical thing to do is bringing a quick player like Dembele to exploit that space, but Valverde thought Gomes is the best option for that situation. Andre Gomes, the guy who can't go nearby an opponent player without committing a foul, was the best option for Valverde against a very strong team on the standards like Roma.

look, messi had a big chance, 1 on 1 vs goalkeeper, which if he scored, barca would be through, but he didnt, it happens, even to him
valverde had his own fuck ups which you mentioned, but main players didnt also help, they looked like they didnt care, and you get this, getting out vs roma
