People need to accept that Dembele is going to struggle under a non existent system and a useless manager like Valverde. Just look at Coutinho. At the moment he has no idea how to play.

Well said.
It is a an old and known phenomenon that when a mediocre coach without much imagination starts coaching either world-class stars or young soon-to-be WC players, the result is usually disastrous.
If the star-player tries to follow the mediocre ideas having been forced upon him by the mediocre coach, he starts to concede his own creativity, because there's a gap of individual brilliance and the mediocre tactics.
Both Coutinho and Dembele are the textbook examples of this.

Just look at the prime days of the MSN. Do you think Lucho truly and really gave them useful tactical advises? No way Messi or Neymar would have really cared about those instructions, specially that both have much better eyes for the game than the coach has...
There's the "win by brilliance" mentality existing and the "win by struggle" as well. Valverde is a typical coach who has never really dealt with brilliant stars, so his own lack of imagination and mediocrity will slowly slowly digest those with considerable talent.

What do you think about his defensive performance, holding the ball, making assists and dribbling? He seems to be getting worse in all areas. That's not progress.

Obviously, those are all 100% the fault of Valverde. No young player on the Barca team is ever accountable for his own bad play. If Valverde benches him, Valverde is not giving the chance to develop. If he plays and does disastrous things every few minutes, that is completely Valverde's fault.

Valverde is a small manager who came out of Bilbao. He did not win anything and played defensive football.
he is afraid of losing his job, which is why he can not integrate young people.
what do you think of Alena, Riqui Puig, who never plays for Team A?
he is not even named one of the seven best coaches of UEFA and FIFA 2018.

It would help if his alternative for Dembele was someone else rather than Rafinha, who looks like a borderline first division player at this point. If he's the alternative, I'd happily roll the dice with Dembele for the rest of the season. In the end he might end up developing into a player we'd all like him to become, so taking a risk with those minutes seems worthwhile.

That is an awful mentality to have. So no matter how bad Dembele plays he will start?

Well, that's what Valverde has been doing with Rafinha lately...

Dembele was rightfully benched because of his "I don't give a shit" performance against Sevilla. A lot of our other players should get the same treatment after yesterday's game. But they won't since Valverde doesn't bench people who are over 24 years old.

Dembele didnt impress In the copa game so he was benched neither did Malcom if they played well they would have started over Rafinha

But he changed the game against RM, while Rafinha did fuck all.

Comparing playing with Munir or with Suarez up-front is a joke.

Players need to keep performing to earn their place. Dembele isnt playing well and the goals are doing little to mask that from the coach and the supporters

Oh, really? So Busquets and Coutinho will be benched against Inter? I don't think so.

Valverde has double standards. It's clear as day.

It will be the same team vs Inter. Perhaps Rafinha is dropped for Dembele or Messi if he's ready to play, and that's about it.

Dembele didn't play well in the Copa game but this game and its internals are far from being as easy as ALWAYS benching players who didn't perform well.
A coach needs to have a structure and the key players are "withdrawn" only when their performances show a continuous decay.
Was Rakitic benched last season when he was in awful form? Were the other midfielders? Was Roberto benched or Suarez? Didn't Gomes play more minutes than it was needed to show that he was useless?

How can you even think so simply about this game?
