Mascherano was red-carded for the second time as a Barça player. The first sending-off happened on 11 February 2012, away to Osasuna (3-2). Strangely enough, it was the same referee on both occasions.

shenanigans!

Bad for his confidence. He's made a great transformation from a defensive midfielder to a defender, that is out of question. However, he's just no Pique and no Puyol. Those "mistakes" don't help him either.

he is a beast when we control the game but definitely gets exposed when we are attacked in waves! it highlights the fact that he is not a proper CB!
amazing professional though!

Aside from the tactical state of mind, Mascherano doesn't have the strength to be a CB especially against taller and physical teams like Celtic. If he's to stay in that role hopefully he bulks up at least. If it weren't for Puyol's injury I'd say he was a liability at this point. But he's all we got right now.

Have to agree. He seriously needs to hit the weights if he wants to continue playing at CB in barca. If he can get as buff as Puyol it would do him a world of wonders.

At least Masch will finally get a game off. Everyone might appreciate him a lot more after we see how Bartra/Song/Adriano do this weekend.
