If Barca indeed buy a proper CB like Benatia and keep Mascherano you can say goodybe to Bartra as he will be 4th choice in a position where you don't rotate so much. Not that I would be sad personally, I don't rate Bartra like this forum does, I see plenty of errors where people here write "good game". Just saying though.

Yesterday's performance by Mascherano kinda swayed me towards holding on to him. Not as CB, but as back-up to Busquets and a key senior member of the squad, especially when we are losing some many significant figures.

Think what you like about Masche, but you can never question his commitment. Something this team is severely lacking right now.

He was at fault for Atletico's 1-1 goal, because his marking of Godin was non-existent. How the hell was he immense? He made a tight marking on Godin before the corner, and then Godin took 2 steps backward and lost Mascherano, who was grabbing another Atletico player, while Godin came from behind and scored a free header. It was a huge, and I mean huge error. And it cost us.

@evilhita666, there's no fancy conclusions to draw. The play was simple. Godin was Mascherano's to mark. He fooled Mascherano and scored the goal. That's it. There's nothing more to add to that.

He had a pretty good game but even at that there were a couple of occasions where he was completely clueless. There was one instance in the first half where the ball was in the air at the edge of our box and Raul Garcia won it with ease. It's so easy for forwards to dominate Mascherano in the air its ridiculous. He had a few of his great crunching tackles yesterday but he also had some that he completely mistimed and got nowhere near his man. He is just an accident waiting to happen in defence even if he is having a good game. I'd keep him around if he played in midfield but I don't want ever want to see him play in defence for Barcelona again.
