Selling him would be a huge mistake. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who plays will more passion and tenacity. That alone makes up for any mistake he might make. His attitude is that of a champion, and we certainly need that.

His attitude is great, though if you want to stop conceding goals from set pieces/crosses you probably don't want to persist with a 5ft nothing centre half. He could definitely do a job in midfield, mind.

If Barca indeed buy a proper CB like Benatia and keep Mascherano you can say goodybe to Bartra as he will be 4th choice in a position where you don't rotate so much. Not that I would be sad personally, I don't rate Bartra like this forum does, I see plenty of errors where people here write "good game". Just saying though.

I agree with everyone else that he should be moved back to midfield under Lucho. He would be absolutely immense as a classic CDM. I highly doubt we will buy 2 or more CB's to take care of that though...

Mascherano did make a big mistake at Godin's goal. That was a mighty important moment where Godin got the best of him. You just don't lose your man in the title decider. You just don't. Would be good as a DM. Pique, Bartra and a new CB should be the future in defence.

Obviously he's not a finished article, but neither was Puyol when he first started. He has the will to learn and put his body on the line for the team, and that's what people realise. And unlike most, Lucho uses young players if they work hard, and doesn't just play players by prestige. He'll be 3rd choice, and Mascherano 2nd choice/rotating DM and 4th choice CB.

If Mascherano was kept around as a DM option (instead of Song) and occasional CB if needed, that would be awesome. Bartra should be ahead of him. He's good for his level of experience and he's showing improvement.
