Wouldn't be surprised but I'd be disappointed if that's his way to get a new contract. I think he'd probably get a raise if his agent would just approach the club about that. One thing I could see being a problem is contract length though. Maybe he wants a 3-year contract (he knows this is his last chance to get a big contract) and we are only willing to stay with 2-year as his contract is now. But if there would be interest on both sides they could easily get around this with including a clause that would guarantee him 3rd year if he plays 60% games in 2017-18 or something like that.

He's basically saying that he's not saying anything, but saying it in a way that might fuck with some people. I think we'll know what he's playing at soon.

It's no secret that Mashcerano wants to play in Serie A at one point in career, but for now I think he is just using the Juve rumor to improve his contract.

Of course, It's Mascherano, makes it even better that he can cover for Marchisio/Khedira or even Bonucci in the defence, which we have none for, so when Bonucci is missing, it means we can start passing from the back again.

Agree. As I said above I just think he didn't need to flirt with Juve to get that. But that's football reality nowadays. Players and/or their agents use other clubs to get better contracts regularly. It's just that Masche was one of the last players I'd expect something like that from. I guess I was wrong but won't hold up that against him after next season starts and he's still giving his all every game on the pitch.

hmm, sounds like he might try to squeeze a bit more money from the team, especially now that he has some leverage with Dani leaving.... Kinda sucks, but we really can't afford to let him leave, so we might have to pay up.
