15 - Andreas Christensen

Yeah, you're talking out of your arse here.

He has been mostly brilliant under Tuchel and equally great for our national team, being an integral part of one of the best defensive units in Europe.

I could easily see him being a great partner to Araujo. My only reservations being that he seems to work best in a 3 man defense and the fact that he's not particularly fast. He's nonetheless a super classy CB with ball playing skills that suit our play style perfectly, and getting him on a free transfer seems like a no-brainer to me. Hell, even if the shortcomings I mentioned turn out to be too severe, I'm pretty sure we could sell him no problems later on.

Not seeing it mate. And I didn't make any drama over his salary or potential sale if he flops.
I just feel we should be aiming higher, for a long term solution. Christensen can warm the bench all he wants.

Their plan is to spend all the money we can on Haaland this summer. If Christensen doesn't become a great starter for us we'll sign a CB in 2023.

I'm skeptical about him too, but at the same time don't see any issues with this signing. Worst case scenario I see him becoming a good #3 option for us. RIP Eric Garcia though who is essentially a poor man's Christensen.

Same case with Kessie. Skeptical, but.... worst case he's sold in 2023 if he doesn't fit in too well. With his reputation he should be easily sold back to Italy or England. Salaries we're offering these two players seem to be pretty reasonable too. At least compared with what the previous board did...

Christensen is a talented player, he?s even faster than he looks. My main concern is that I?ve only seen him play well in a 3 man defence. Not saying he hasn?t performed in a 4 at the back setup but I haven?t seen it.

He could be an improvement over anybody if he adapts. Maybe not Araujo but close.

This guy is so far ahead of every CB we have (minus Araujo) it's actually comedic. And he will be coming in on a free transfer.

Umtiti is done. Lenglet is average at best. Eric Garcia is just disastrous in defense. Pique looks decent in Xavi's new system but is still way past his best.

Christensen is a massive boost.

No that's not a problem with him. He's just as good in a back 4 as long as you pair him up with a physically imposing CB with leadership

From random Chelsea forums they seem to rate him pretty highly…

Always potential he flops but if he is free then who cares. Sign him up.

Some Nordic mentality and work ethic wouldn't hurt either. Bring in Christensen and his neighbour Haaland.

Nordic? That's the first time I read that word on a Footy forum. Normally see it in Anthropology forums all the time!

Yeah, seems like they're going this route. Forced by Haaland availability this summer and Mbappe's imminent signing for Real.

Dear Barca fans,

If you have Christensen as the best CB/main CB/Leader of backline at your club, let me you warn you beforehand- you're in trouble.

Christensen is a quality CB but he's the typical second best CB in the squad type.

His tackling, ball winning, comcentation, defensive awareness, marking, tactical awareness are all top notch. But he lacks the agression, physicality, aerial ability and the alpha attitude to be the leader CB. He's pretty good on the ball.

Rudiger fits the bill more although he's definitely better in a back 5 than a 4. Been following him since his Roma days.

While Christensen will be a lovely signing for Barca, you still have to sign a main CB(like a Koulibaly) to play alongside Andres. And Araujo is being very overrated by a chunk of your fanbase. He ain't close to world class.

Regards.😜

Good, we have Araujo who has all of these attributes.

[SPORT] | Andreas Christensen will undergo his second medical examination today after undergoing his first last week. After that it will only remain to sign the contract. The player will sign a 5-season contract with a salary of €6M. #fcbliv

Pretty damn good signing for such low money spent. The club is doing well to elevate the squad and then make room to spend big on a top-class defender and a top-class forward.

Christensen to Barcelona is almost done, pending final details - it will be a 5 year contract. The Danish defender, who will arrive on a free after not renewing his contract with Chelsea, has already undergone a first part of the medical check-up with Barcelona and today he will undergo the second part of the exam. No way for Premier League clubs because he wants to respect Chelsea - but he's prepared to accept Barcelona proposal. Barca bid way better than Bayern one. It's matter of final stages.

Bayern must've really low-balled him then, considering our offer is pretty sensible (6M salary). Looks like this one might be done this week. Nice. Could make things more difficult for the Araujo extension though. Because Araujo will now probably be demanding at least the same salary Christensen is getting (and he'd be absolutely right), especially considering he's still on less than 1M salary right now (B team contract still in effect there, I think).

I'm just hoping that this isn't plan B if Araujo doesn't renew, we need them both. Really hoping we aren't gonna be stingy with Araujo, just because we're signing Christensen. Need to move on Lenglet and possibly Mingueza too, and make way for Araujo's improved salary that way, if that's the problem. With Lenglet's salary saved in full if we manage to sell him, that alone should cover Araujo's improved one, so make it happen.

I'm sure Araujo will get an improved contract, and if he's not greedy he will continue. Few things are better in football than being a leader figure at a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona.

How funny would it be if chelsea the signed Araujo because he doesn't sign the new contract, which has been dragging in too long.
