So far the story is very similar to Fati's story. There are no outstanding speed qualities or outstanding dribbling skills for a winger, but there are long shots that fly into the goal.

He is nothing like fati. Yamal is a great dribbler. He can run for a cross or cut inside.
His maturity for his age is unique.
His speed has increased immense in the past season
He is Still 16..

Yamal is already a very good dribbler. Yes, he won't reach Messi's dribbling level (or Hazard or Neymar). But still a very good one already. Fati is never a dribbler.

And dribbling is just one of his strengths. His passing, decision making are just too good.

He is nothing like Fati. Fati pre-injury could not be isolated on the wing or far from goal. Fati was a final 20 metres impact striker/inside forward.

Someone like Sergio Aguero.

His dad is only 32.

Even more incredible is that Jesús Navas is, in fact, older than Lamine Yamal’s dad. The Barcelona’s youngster’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, was born in 1992 and is 32 years old, while Sevilla’s defender was born on November 21, 1985, making him now 38, with a full six years between them.

Most of this is speculation tbh, some yellow tabloids quoting each others about his age, he is in his 30's but it doesn't seem so far anyone knows exact age of his.

Leave the kid alone

He had a great game against a defensively sound France.

I’m not buying the next Messi hype either but this is unreasonable criticism

What was he incredible at in the first half?
It wasn't "incredible", but it was marvelous, i'd say. People now days use too many superlatives without rhyme or reason just because they sound feelgoody.
However, he was very good, indeed even outside the goal. At tender age he is already able to almost always hold on to the ball and pass in a way that helps the overall flow of the game. He rarely makes rash and dumb decisions and his passing technique is excellent. He also finds the right guy and right trajectory for the pass. He doesn't always try to make key passes like assist to Olmo in previous match or the great pass in the box to Morata (who fucked it up, like always), but when he does, it is with purpose and precision. His overall passing to circulate ball is also quite flawless. He doesn't make teammates run and spin to receive the ball, it's always sharp. He rarely looses it under pressure. His take ons are good, not always successful, but given his age and already good track record of successful dribbles, he'll only get better, when his body matures.
Even in the second goal against France, he participated in the attack with clever disguised right hand side pass to Olmo, that opened space for further attack that ended in Olmos goal. Most players would do the obvious pass to the left flank towards which he was running. There's lot to appreciate in his game besides goals and assists. You seem to not have watched him much. But of course, as per current_thing, the hype is through the roof. Should be toned down a bit, but can't have that on teh internetz.

I also forgot to add that he is really good in defense. Not just that he tracks back and has work rate, but he actually wins balls quite often or denies attackers by clever pressing, closing lanes thus helping his teammates. Nico imo is much weaker in this respect despite being older, stronger and bit faster.
