Absolutely I can. You block the player on the ball first when he's in a dangerous position. It's the ABC of defending properly. You don't play offside trap and let him run directly on goal 1 vs 1.

You pretty much explained why it's the defenders fault there. It's not like Flick has a remote control where he makes them set it up.

I believe the indication to play offside trap (excessively imo) is coming from Flick.

Pedri could have tackled him also and looked like tried to nick the ball.

mistakes like that happen but in the new situation get resolved. Cubarsi for example could have still easily cleared it but also fudged it. That now results in setup before getting scrutinized to death.

Flick is smart, adaptable and flexible. I fully trust him and his system. For all we have done so far, I have to.

Probably our defenders were expecting a pass to an offside Benfica player. Pavlidis saw he was offside, and went solo. By the time we caught up with his plan, it was too late.

The defensive system we are playing with is literally a joke.

I rate him highly as a manager on the attacking side of the game (easily best in the world, especially given the player limitations he has).

But this defensive tactic is more prone to coming apart against more serious opponents in high leverage situations, which we will face more and more en route to a CL win.

Dortmund, Bayern/Inter, RM/Pool is the likely path.

Yes, we destroyed RM and Bayern already. But I'm not too sure if we can do it again in a CL semi or final with these same tactics.

I'm hopeful, but I see potential for disaster.
