Deco and Laporta should be grateful the team is flying without him, otherwise people would be calling for their heads.

3 weeks off, then have to ease him in meaning another week or two at half intensity, almost the whole season at this point.

Sorry but if this continues next season this has been a waste of money.
It does not have to extend till next season. It was a panic buy. A stupid one at that only a club like Barcelona could pull. There was a reason Olmo was never wanted by any other top team(ignore all those press noises about other clubs bejng interested) No club with capable management sees a player that is only available for a quater of the season and pulls the trigger to spend 60m+ salaries, even if that player was Messi. You have to be ran and managed by dafts if you were broke and needed to increase your debts to get a damaged player you knew everyone else avoided because of his injury history.

If broke Barca spent 60m for a generational talent, I could understand that but doing so for an average player that would only be available for 30%/40% of the time is criminal. Surely, even some eyes will be pooped out in some quarters if you spent such on a Messi that is a genius but broken by injuries.

There are a lot here Barcaforum that have tried to justify his signing with the need to push Gundo out because of age and form, which does not even sound reasonable if you weigh having to replace a player that would be available to you all season with
the one younger but never available for 60m while you have to renegotiate salaries of your employees to stay solvent. Going on a long tortuous journey with a mule is a much wiser one than relying on a lame stallion for same.

It gets worse when you hear that Barca were offered some fantastic talents like Desire Doue for a fraction of what was spent on Olmo. Sorry, no other way to spin this. It is a classic example of buffonery. Not like Olmo has been pulling out trees in all the few matches he was avaliable anyways.

Player is made of glass. All wise clubs avoided for a reason except Barca.

At least Gundo would play and we wouldn't have the shitshow with the registration and we would have kept 60 mil for players that actually play football.

Like Gundo is playing for City?

His legs are not there.

Would take the minutes Olmo has played over Gundo being available every time.

There is a reason Flick wanted to punt him and club payed him to leave.

Where does Gundo play? Too slow/leggy to be effective at AM behind Lewa in way Barca want and not better deeper than Pedri or FDJ.. he was slow and awful defensively when played there last season.

No 60m would be saved either. Gundogan would still be getting paid his far too high salary and then gone with nothing to show for it a year later.

If he doesn't become fit, this line of argument will be a very difficult one to counter.

I hope it gets better

If the club can turn things around like they did for Pedri it would be amazing, Olmo clearly has quality but I'm not optimistic. Olmo can't play for 3 matches in a row for almost his entire career and he's already 26, Pedri's situation was a lot better even before Flick.

So far he has been available for 75% of league games and 60% of CL.

Would take Olmo at that over Gundo available every week.

Gundogan was done and paired with another old attacker in Lewa.. never working.

Add to that his 18m a season.. 100% correct to dump him for Olmo.

we played him sparingly in the games he was available for to delay re-injury so no different than not available

we're lucky he gets injured so easily so he comes off pitch before can even tear an acl

Imagine your mentality if you get injured whilst taking a fucking penalty. When he signed he came with a carefree attitude, playing at full pelt and showing what an amazing player he is.

He is still that same amazing player, but once the first injury came he slowly started to play within himself, almost at 70 percent, in fear of getting injured again. That's essentially been his 'drop in form' that we've seen the past few months.

That mentality is here to stay now. Getting that out of him is going to be a very very difficult thing to overcome. We managed it with Pedri, but not so with Fati. Really need to get him on a new fitness plan that will get him a run of games to help with his mentality.
