that is LITERALLY like saying that CR has a phenomenal, world class, 3-5 top player in the world january to april because he scored a lot of goals in Serie A and won the Italian cup, while being eliminated in the CL and losing the league EXACTLY LIKE MESSI.

CR7 won a major final he didn't play more than 15 mins in. The team beat France in France without him.
Counting Nations League is like counting the Olympics. Hell, the Olympics is worth more than that probably.
Also, in what world is reaching the finals a worse achievement than getting decked in R of 16 like CR7 has been with Portugal for the majority of his career.

The bar is just incredibly high for Leo and deservedly so, the man has already won 6.
Only being the #1 option at a CL-winning team or winning the WC would satisfy some I guess…
The man can score 50-60 goals like in 2018, but that would only be enough for 5th position.
The man can lead his team to WC final, but clearly that is not enough, unless you are named Modric.
Most Messi fans agree that Lewa deserves the award too,but to claim that Leo is not even top 5 is absurd.
