Just voicing my opinion on the matter. Not being naive as to think the voting is 100% right.
For me, there shouldn't have been other winners in the Messi/CR era. Modric getting one was a fraud. And Xavi, Iniesta, Ribery weren't better players than Messi/CR, regardless of the trophy hauls.

Agree with 2013 but last few years have been a farce really.
Xavi Iniesta and Neuer unlucky to be in their peaks at that time. The impact Manuel Neuer has had on Goalkeeping isn't talked about enough.

It was never about who is the best, its about media hype and trophies. Just take 2014 for example, Ronaldo won it, but if Higuain scored a 1 on 1 with Neuer, Messi would have won it. Makes no sense when you think about it, Higuain scoring a goal was a decider if the winner will be Messi or Ronaldo.

if you count 12 months , he wasn't.
if you count the first 6 when all the major competitions happened , he was.
He pretty much won it based on the league carry, spanish cup and copa America. During these competitions he was the best in the world and it was not even close. I wasn't really arsed seeing Lewa statpad in that farmers league with miles of open space.
