I get that. But if he's not physically fit, having him in the squad is futile as he won't be available to play for us, and we'd just be paying his wages for nothing. Do you need such obvious explanation?

I was exaggerating ofc I don't want a player that isn't physically fit , but if he fails his medical tests who will we get next ? Olivier Deschacht ?

I think a big consideration for the CBs going after this season was that they were comfortable in full back areas for a possible three man back line.

Dont think Benatia or Hummels have that.

Added to that they may have been impossible to get anyway.

Almost all the top clubs are after center backs ans Benatia/Hummels have gone nowhere yet.

Yes I think either Vermaelen or Mathieu will also cover the LB spot, they offer a more defensive role than Alba.

I wouldve liked Benatia or Hummels but like you said they aren´t available... unless someone comes and offers 60m.
