25 - Wojciech Szczęsny

Flick is hoping on a czeszcny that is still out of form and can get a bit better than now is and blunders are mental issue for part. Czsesny kills any aerial threat and can get to balls pena would never.

Based on merit Pena deserves to play tho.

Pena probably has been better.. but still not great and his weaknesses can cause bit of anxiety at the back.

Flick must think Szcs has the higher bar and more experience to clam things.. although at moment he is far to trigger happy to rush out and a lot slower to get legs going than Pena.

From what we have seen on the pitch, I agree 100%.

However, I think the problems are not on the pitch...
I heard the rumours about misbehaviour, but could be Flick rates csezny higher. Same way he rates Frenkie high and been trying to get him back into starting 11 even when Frenkie had some underwhelming performances month ago.

Pena has been decent enough over enough time to not be dropped.

He is better off the line and had an good understanding with Inigo and Cuba. But Inigo is gone now, and the offside line isn't an all out thing- so Flick may think it's time to take the jump.

Flick is watching the trainings and knows that in the business end of the season, you need a reliable shot stopper.

Woj needs to get these mistakes out of his system I guess. If he doesn't then we may have to revert to Pena who might be back to feckin Xavi form for all we know.

Hansi Flick: "I don't know who will be the starting keeper in the future, everything depends on the performance and the team, but I think Szczesny will play the next matches."

Interesting...

Is it the fact that his blunders hasn't formally cost us yet that is preventing people from realizing just how poor he has been?

It's now four inexcusable blunders in the last three games. Had those mistakes come at less fortunate moments, this guy might have singlehandedly cost us three wins.

This is way beyond anything Ter Stegen has ever pulled, like absurdely bad.

Flick like all of us knows Woj is better, he just needs to play and adjust

Hopefully that's what it takes, need to burn him at least 5 games back to back before we properly judge.

I always thought same.

But then have some here that followed him at Juve and Polish NT saying he this is part of his game and regularly does this. Hope not true.

Certainly a stubborn decision from Flick.
I am a fan of Tek but still somewhat surprised at his decision in lights of both Tek's mistakes and Pena's okayish performances.
