Szczesny: "I retired because I couldn't find a project that excited me, but when I saw this opportunity, I couldn’t turn it down. I didn’t expect to play, I had only been playing golf for two months, but I felt it was my destiny."
Szczesny: "Our football is beautiful, but the defense is very high up the pitch, which makes communication difficult. I have to adapt to them, not the other way around. It's a completely different way of playing compared to what I was used to in Italy."
Szczesny: "The energy the youngsters bring is amazing, I really enjoy playing with them. I’ve played with stars like Cristiano, Buffon, and Özil, but Lamine Yamal is the most technically gifted player I’ve ever seen. What he does in training is unbelievable."
Szczesny: "I’d love to play in the new Spotify Camp Nou, though I never thought about it as a dream. My biggest ambition was to play at Legia Warsaw’s stadium."
Szczesny: "Lewy called me. At first it wasn't a real offer, they just asked if I was open to it as a joke. But then it felt real, they asked me to help, and I want to help."
Szczesny: "My son supported Real Madrid before I signed, but I can't do anything. Slowly he's learning that Lamine is not bad, Lewandowski is not bad, Pedri is not bad... Now he's happy that we win games. It's normal."
Szczesny: "Communication is much more difficult here. The defence is much further away than what I am used to. But it's clear I have to adapt to the Barça style, not the other way around."
Szczesny: "Conceding a goal in Italy has more weight. Here you can concede a goal and you still have more chances to score. The attacking culture here is amazing. Football is faster and more creative."
Szczesny: "Conceding a goal bothers me a lot. Even if we win 7-1, the one goal bothers me a lot. Conceding a goal is not a disaster, it gives me the courage to take more risks."
