It would be the perfect time as well if they can sign a replacement for fairly cheap and Tek continues for a year.

With ter Stegen being the current starter for Germany he won't jeopardize his chances to finally start in a World Cup for them by having to fight for his place and possibly being benched. The man has been salty about being Neuer's backup for 8+ years now.

They have some leverage to play with if they want to use it and FFP allows for a GK signing.

Then you have his age + injury record. It just makes sense.

Doesn't count for much, because it was already a settled deal. Stegen haven't made a single knockout match worth of being MoM ever for us. Valdes, with all his brainfarts throughout his career, had several clutch performances in knockouts and was just generally much more reliable just like we see with Tek. It also infects players. I think the aura of good GK protects from conceding even, when save is not made. Stegen has been a magnet, a bad omen whenever shit hits the fan and his wavering/breaking morale spreads like virus throughout the team leading to humiliating trashings.

Convince this guy to sign a new +3 year contract, I’m begging you. Guy has already showed that our biggest weakness was Ter Stegen. He saved us, always showed positive head and gave our back line so much more confidence down to 10 men. MOTM
