4 - Ronald Araújo

Vini paid him back today and then some lol.

That's the thing about being a defender, it only takes one game to make you look stupid.

He's been off it lately, even looks slow.

But I'm not worried.

Said it before but his positioning and organisation is not there.

Needs to improve big time.

Literally every goal today was on that shambolic defence.

CB, he's a fucking CB so play him there and get rid of that French clown Kounde (his fashion is terrible also btw)

One of the players that if we sell, will regain form and we will regret.
The man is not a RB. We used him there to cover Vini, Anceloti finally overcame this, but we stood by that tactic anyway.
The real fuck up in the defense is Kounde. He makes everything a mess with every decision.

Upheld offside, gave away pen, red card. Easily his worst performance for Barca.

But time and time again we sit here and say that Araujo is a fucking CB. There were even some media report from a few months ago that said "Barca have realized, the defence will be built around Araujo being one of the CBs". Now Xavi is back with the nonsense that nobody wants, Araujo RB to man mark Vini who isn't even playing as a pure LW. There's no shame in fixing your mistakes during the game Xavi.

Even in normal 1v1 situations, he was giving Vini an absurd amount of space space. Just kept backing up, afraid to take the confrontation. His head wasn't there at all. Nervous and overzealous at the same time.

Kounde had played Vini anyway.

Wouldn't swap him for anyone. Said it for about a year now, you play your best players in their best positions. He is a CENTRE BACK. You kill his confidence playing him out of position and yesterday he was like a lamb to slaughter.

Xavi plays him right back to combat Vini and it was obvious a few minutes in Vini was playing more centrally and he didn't change him over to centre back. Same thing happened against Man Utd when Rashford moved away from him and inside to exploit Alonso.

Probably the biggest indictment on Xavi's reign is making some Barca fans question this beast of a defender. Get a new manager in who will pair him with Inigo and we will have Prime Uruguayo back.

They wont sell him unless he forces it.

Real have pace in attack as do all the top team in Europe... his physical profile is unique to try and combat those players from CB.

Kounde and Christensen should go long before think of selling Araujo.

He needs to calm down and improve his positioning and need those around him to provide a bit more structure and leadership.

Araujo is the best any Barca defender has done against Vini this season.

Just it is the other one who is at Las Palmas and nae big Ronnie.

Matched him on the dribble very well.

2 more years left in his contract, selling in 2024 is the last chance to get massive offer for him if he doesn't renew.
Last time his agent caused trouble during renewal process.

And tbh, the club might have to sell in order to reinforce. It is already suggest in the media that a massive offer for him could solve a lot of our FFP (obviously, till the next summer of the deal when we are fucked up again).

Sporting wise, there is a long list of players that should leave before him, but I doubt we can get anything significant for them.
Maybe someone will be ready to pay 50 or 60M for guys like Kounde or Christensen, or Fati comes back and suddenly turns it around and we sell him, but those are day dreams.

Will be a long summer of trying to move on others before selling Araujo. Maybe in August they'll consider it if all the other bums have no takers.
