4 - Ronald Araújo

Because Laporta need sells to buy new toys and he's not capable to sell anyone else.

What toys? If we can sign Tah for free that's a good deal. Would I rather sell Christensen than Araujo? Of course I would. However, no one knows the entire story behind the scenes and people tend to forget how many mistakes this guy did during the last few seasons. He basically singlehandedly threw us out last season against PSG.

I am willing to bet that he won't go on a loan. It would probably be a 6 months loan deal with obligatory buy option in summer.

I don't know what stupidity Laporta and Deco have in mind now, we'll see.

That would be even worse than optional buy option but both options are retarded. Idiots.

Never seen one mistake so overblown as Araujo's mistake against PSG on this forum. Years of great play, loyalty and sacrifice just went out the window in a second for some. Looks like Laporta is one of those... Shame those standards aren't the same for MATS and Lewa.

There is no way he goes to Juve.

First of all they are not attractive to top players.

He will have offers from Premier League and from Bayern.

They don't make that high wages, question is will they even qualify for CL, their team is shit.

On loan would mean FFP is in the pits.

Sales wise, makes sense if we got a sizeable fee. But squad wise wouldn't make sense if Tah is coming in and taking more cap space.

Iñigo is 34 in a couple of months. Short term he might be more useful than Araujo (because of his injuries) but there needs to be a longterm plan for Cubarsi's partner. Don't see why that wouldn't be Araujo.

Letting go a young motivated leader for a mercenary who is about to come here to retire on sun and sea.

Nothing I've seen from Tah gives me that impression. Lad has not won anything in his career until last season so I'm sure he would come in very motivated.

Also, 18 months ago people were saying the same about Inigo and he has more than proven his worth this season when he has finally stayed fit.

One thing Tah has over Araujo is availability. He has not had a serious injury in last 7-8 years. I think he's also better on the ball than Ronald while having a similar physical profile.

I'm not saying we should sell Araujo, far from that. Would rather offload Christensen (though won't get much for him) who will probably never fully recover from his nagging Achilles problems. But if Ronald doesn't want to renew then we have no other option but get whatever we can for him. Just can't afford to risk letting him go on free in current situation. And I don't buy rumours about selling (and even less loaning) him in January. Inigo and Cubarsi are already overplayed and if one of them gets injured we are down to Big Dom (Flick clearly sees Eric more as a midfielder than CB).

Ideally Araujo will accept club's offer in coming weeks/months and we'll go into next season with Pau, Araujo, Tah and Inigo as CBs (I'm counting on Kounde as a full time RB now but could also cover at CB if needed ofc). Would be the best CB depth we've had in a very long time. And then in 2026 we can re-evaluate situation and bring a younger CB (maybe left-footed though don't know if footedness is that important to Flick) to replace Inigo.

Also age wise would be the best structure we could/should have imo. Two players (Araujo and Tah) in their prime years, a very serviceable veteran backup who can always step in as a starter (as proven this year) in Inigo and a youngster Pau who is already amongst best CBs in the world imo but we should still manage his minutes. Something we don't have a luxury this season but we shouldn't really ran him to the ground before he even turns 20.

One worry I do have is Flick's inability (at least shown so far) to rotate and use a whole squad at his disposal. But I think with those four CBs you can't really go wrong using any of them. Would still need to find right chemistry and understanding amongst them though. We'll see now how Araujo (and Christensen if/when he returns) will be integrated in Flick's defense.

Lever fans literally write that he has given them enough and hope he picks Barca because then he can enjoy sun and sea.

What's the reasoning for this profile either? If we are getting anyone it should be faster cb to be able to sprint in this Flicks high line.

He is "free" and "German". I get that. But there are details.

1. What fans are saying doesn't mean that's the attitude he would come with here. They would surely also prefer to see him at Barca than Bayern. But "gave them everything" part also shows the respect they have for him. Xabi clearly rates him as well still playing him every minute despite being clear he's leaving.

2. He was second fastest CB in BL last season behind Lacroix.

He's actually faster than Araujo.

Uruguayan Ronald Araujo reaches 34.5 kilometers per hour, like Dutchman Sheraldo Becker, signed in the last winter transfer window by Real Sociedad.

Chilax guys, it's just these clown reporters needing money, as they spent a lot on booze this New Year's Eve.

Isn't this the same guy who had some leaflet saying Nico's deal was done?

Just like the Ohlno news, just relax, if it looks too dumb to be true, it is fake news then. We are in no way selling him for less than 80mil.

After the last two months of disinformation spread about a topic that incited panic, tranquilo - zero club reports corroborating anything related to movement on Araujo. So far, only rumours emanating from Italy
