France seen him as a RB option as did Xavi.

That is completely different from just choosing any random player that has played outwith their 'main' position at some point.

The reality is Xavi thought both Araujo/Kounde could be options at CB/RB and found out very quickly Araujo on ball was not good enough.

I dont doubt Xavi sold him on playing CB primarily. would have been ridiculous not to let him hear what wants to when doing all can to sign him.

Who do you think Xavi planned to play RB?

Kounde played right-back in the French national team as there was practically no other choice, and more experienced players played in the center of defense.

The fact is that Kounde didn't like playing at RB, which means he didn't initially know that his main role would be RB.

What was Xavis plan for RB in the summer of 2022?

As said I dont doubt Kounde was sold on idea of being CB.

The fact Kounde complained about it came across as him thinking it could be longer term and not the idea he was sold and feeling a bit duped. He quickly realised that is where he was going to play and didnt like it.

I don't know Xavi's plans, maybe he was planning to buy a right-back or he wanted a 3-4-3 formation or something else.

But the fact is that Kunde was not happy with his position. And given his dissatisfaction, I'm sure he wouldn't have opted for crisis-ridden Barcelona if he knew he would be playing RB in a 4-3-3 system, name on hand offers from other big clubs.

He could not have bought a RB after signing Chritensen and barely being able to register Kounde.

Did not buy the players for a 343 and never really tried it.. so doubt that claim.

There was no move to sign a RB.

Xavis plan was Araujo/Kounde is the reality and Araujo quickly showed he couldnt do it.

Again.. I dont doubt Kounde was sold playing primarily CB. He wasnt happy as seen what was coming and being at RB for majority of season.

The Catalan media specifically referred to him being able to play RB and it being an idea Xavi had.

The team had Roberto, who had a lot of experience playing on the RB. Bellerin was also taken on loan.

You genuinely think Xavi had in mind Roberto/Bellerin RB, Araujo RCB Kounde LCB as his idea ahead of Kounde RB Araujo RCB and Christensen LCB?

Some folk claimed what you are now at time also...

There were very very few teams playing two attacking wide full backs by that point. Was never Xavis plan. He wanted 3 at back set up on ball as his shape.

In the first match under Xavi, we played 3-4-3. Besides, in Qatar one of his favorite schemes was also 3-4-3

So I don't rule out that there was an idea

And then it could be a midfield diamond with Busquets - De Jong - Pedri and Robert and classic wingers + Lewa

or no diamond with wingbacks.

The first game Kounde was available he played RB and played there until Christensen was out of the team injured.

With Kounde at RB they played 3 at back in possession though often.

It was clear as day thats how Xavi would play Kounde that season.

There is no way Xavi planned on starting Bellerin/Roberto RB ahead of Kounde when Christensen was available.

If it's clear that Xavi originally wanted to use him in the RB position, why the displeasure with Kounde, whose anger situation has become a real meme.

It's clear to me that Xavi originally considered options with Roberto on the RB or a strict 3-4-3, but then changed his mind and settled for a 4-3-3 without the ball and 3-4-3 when in positional possession.

Its clear that Xavi saw him as an option at RB and with the players they had that is where he would end up once Araujo showed he couldnt do it.

There was never a plan for Christensen to be on the bench and Kounde LCB with Bellerin/Roberto RB.

In your scenario..Xavi changed his mind before Kounde had even kicked a ball for Barcelona and played Kounde RB with Roberto coming off bench in midfield.

Didnt happen and as reported Xavi always seen him as RB option.
