What you say would make sense if Kounde's contract was shorter than Saliba's. But they have contracts until 2026. They will both renew their contracts around the same period.
Their salaries will also remain equal after renewal.

And don't forget that Kounde was in a different status at the time of the transition than Saliba or Militao, who was barely 19 years old.

Both signed similar length contracts WHEN they signed. But on different money.
Keep evading..

You come up with the examples of Saliba and Militao and now you try to discredit them as comparisons because you got cornered.

Find whatever example you want. You won't find ANY cb who gets at the age of 20-25, in his big transfer to a top club, the money Kounde got in 2022

ANY...

Would be kinda funny if he agreed to a slight increase in his salary and still being relatively underpaid with the expectation some team will sign him for 65m in the summer and double it.

And then it never happens lol.

But maybe his agent have something lined up already. Who knows?

Fairly sure the likes of De Ligt was on more at Bayern than Kounde is now and Lucas Hernandez at PSG.

This idea that Kounde is massively over paid compared to others his age probably doesnt stack up.

Club is setting a VERY bad precedent with this whole saga, gonna be real funny when other important players in the squad start demanding lower clauses too and we can't even point a "club policy" against that as a counter argument :benitez:

If club sold him now it would be a bad look and narrative would be that they were forced to sell him due to poor finances.

However if he decides to leave in summer the club can point to it being his call and they did not want him to.

Politics involved.

If he is first choice and both are happy he stays. Win win really.

65m for someone who wants to leave is not bad. And knowing how well this club usually sells I doubt we would negotiate anywhere close to that fee with only a year left on his contract.

That said hope he'll stay around longterm.

Kounde receives a salary of €13.5 million from 2022-2023 to 2025-2026. 4 years

Saliba received €2.5m from 2021-2022 after returning from loan.
From 2022-2023 to 2025-2026 he gets €11.8m.

Taking into account the difference in tax levels in Catalonia and England - Saliba gets slightly more than Kunde.

That said, don't forget that Saliba came from Nice to Arsenal in a completely different status than Kunde from Sevilla. Completely different statuses.

Josko Gvardiol - 12.4 million euros.

Given the difference in tax levels in Catalonia and England - Gvardiol gets more than Kounde.

Wesley Fofan - 12.4 million euros

Given the difference in tax levels in Catalonia and England - Wesley Fofan gets more than Kounde.

Its clear that Xavi saw him as an option at RB and with the players they had that is where he would end up once Araujo showed he couldnt do it.

There was never a plan for Christensen to be on the bench and Kounde LCB with Bellerin/Roberto RB.

In your scenario..Xavi changed his mind before Kounde had even kicked a ball for Barcelona and played Kounde RB with Roberto coming off bench in midfield.

Didnt happen and as reported Xavi always seen him as RB option.
We have the facts at our fingertips

- video where Xavi talks (insisting on buying Kounde) about a high defensive line with the fast Kounde and Araujo

- Kounde's dissatisfaction with having to play the RB position.

The first point indicates that Xavi originally planned to play with Kounde in the CB role.

The second paragraph indicates that Kounde was unaware at the time of the switch that he would be playing the RB position. The coach discusses with the player before the purchase about what he sees his role on the team. And if Kunde had known that from the beginning, his discontent would have made no sense.

Kounde was definitely bought to be a CB and Xavi tried him and araujo at CB whenever he could, we had a bunch of average FBs, so eventually he had to move there.

When he came to Barcelona, he was probably the most highly rated young CB in Europe, after a few years at Sevilla.

The fact that he could play RB was just fortunate.
