Yerry is coming in 2018 summer as far as I know. We don't have eyes on the training ground and know how players have fared there. It may very well be that Mascherano just doesn't have what it takes anymore because of his age or Marlon is simply not ready to play for Barcelona yet. If Valverde feels like he needs a good back up CB I trust him. With a good back up CB we could have avoided at least a bit of that farce against Juventus last year where Mathieu played
Didn't know about Mina coming only next summer. Fair enough.
But still, spunking 30m is not the answer. He's not one for the future and he's going to be a bench player at best. You can't be going throwing around 30 million for reserves. That's not how a successful club works. Think about it, when you want to sign another player next time, other team's boards gonna throw this right back in your face. "Hey man you want our decent quality guy, 50 million and it's a deal! Why not, you threw 32m on a reserve." And so on and so forth. That's how things spiral out of control. The wages are exactly the same. Every other average bench player is on close to 5m a year.
Mathieu is not a yard stick with which we should compare future buyings. We paid too much for him too. We should be wiser than that. And buying Inigo Martinez falls right into that category.
Agree to disagree then. I could be wrong in the future and he could be great buy but i just don't see it.
