We're looking for a controlling midfielder.. We have Aleñá for that. Why are we overlooking him and thinking of buying players such as Seri and Jorginho (as good as they are)?

Because looking in La masia would be too easy, who wants to build for the future when you can get flaked by other clubs every season and still not learn.

Tbh, Alena doesn't seem like ''controlling midfielder'' at all. He is lot more similar to S.Roberto in how he reads the game and takes action. He's smart, good technique, but he also is a ''spurt donkey''. He doesn't look around and assess situation. He wants everything fast. That doesn't mean he wont be a great asset for Barca, he will. But the thirst for controlling mid seems to have a delusional effect on a lot of Barca fans by seeing potential Xavi in a lot of wrong places. No, Alena isn't even close to that role. And guys, GUYS, Xavi is/was a unique player. One of a kind. Don't expect anyone like that appear in batches. Yes, Verrati is closest thing to this profile, but even he is far far away from understanding the game and technical abilities to be an equivalent. Especially his retarded temper. He's mentally unstable, while Xavi was like a fucking sensei/guru on and off the field.

No one's saying he's going to be the next Xavi, he's his own man. And no, he's not that similar to Roberto. If you look at the games he played in pre-season, unlike Roberto, he ran without the ball, not with it. He already knew who to pass to, and when he couldn't pass, didn't launch forward, but kept possession and kept looking for who to pass to.

He played so well today!! Already better than pace merchant Gomes and Rakitic. Better than Turan, Roberto, Denis, Rafinha aswell and yes I'm serious.

Non stop playing for Barca B is the best possible thing for him right now, much better than playing 15 minutes every now and than for the first team. Segunda is not that easy at all and he might improve a lot this season so he will be ready for promotion in 2018. I would even say that this season is crucial for his development.

But but Aleña is not good enough to compete with pace merchants like Gomes and Rakitic. Already way better than Arda, Rafinha, Roberto, Denis and Paulinho. Have I forgot someone else?

These days at Barça they want to wait until he is Xavi or Iniesta in their prime to promote and give opportunities. It is a joke, if you watch him in the preseason you could tell Messi would rather place with him. Because he has the confidence to play that difficult through ball or a pass in traffic, he is also good at those ping pong passes that Messi likes. Hopefully he will get his proper chance this season.

I agree. If Aleña isn't promoted next season then Bartomeu is the biggest liar ever. Seriously he deserves to play more than ever for the first team because he's so good!!
